I am now trying ESO. I want a good story based mmo which wow doesn’t deliver anymore. I am keeping an eye on ashes of creation and Pantheon rise of the fallen
Yeah there so many more games that just look more fascinating at this point. Ashes of creation is one of them, right now Conan Exiles is so much better than wow for me currently. I log into wow and i’m just like… whats the point none of it matters and no one cares, and its not fun. Exactly opposite on how i feel with conan.
Skyrim is less playing and more debugging ![]()

You know that bit in Jurassic Park where the jeep shuts off and Grant just goes “…okay what did I touch?” since he has bad luck with electronics?
That’s all modded skyrim is. Just “Okay time to figure out what caused this”
ESO is amazing in almost every aspect but combat… which seems so simple and… slow / boring? Idk i love everything but the combat and because of that i haven’t been able to stay.
i guess i’m a little divided on it. i think there are some things that WoW does better than competitive MMOs (for instance, the leveling in Shadowlands is really well done: by comparison, FFXIV has such a gruesome leveling process that it’s an infamous barrier for new players – even after its revamp)
i imagine i’ll enjoy it but it won’t keep my attention for more than a month or two
I log into FF14 and have no idea what i’m doing, everything is overwhelming, and my head spins in circles to where i dont want to play even though its Final Fantasy D:.
Tbh unpopular opinion here but I love WoW’s story and the whole horde vs alliance conflict. But its pretty much not enough anymore for me to stay.
haha, I can relate to this ![]()

I know but I am ok with it as long as the game has good story.
Havent seen a game that gives a similar dungeon / raiding experience as WoW. Thats ultimately what I care about.
The story in WoW from day 1 has never been anything special, despite having amazing lore assets. I don’t think a single expansion ever made me feel the story was above “meh”.
The mantra is gameplay > Lore which I don’t agree with, story and Lore should be given same priority as game play.
How exactly did they do this?
i liked FFXIV quite a lot but it only really becomes playable at endgame, which requires either shelling out $50 for a level boost and story skip or playing through tens of hours of story content that you may be doing for the 2nd or 3rd time if you’re into alts, which is even more grueling when you consider that you receive abilities very slowly and the 2.5 second GCD is unbearable until you have your full max level rotation
the only game with a better leveling experience is SWTOR, imho: the stories both class and planetside make it a very compelling experience if you’re into that
I completely disagree.
Gameplay keeps people here. Story doesn’t. While I like a good story, ultimately gameplay matters more.
While some people will stick around more for a story. The average person won’t.
Are you saying they are people who dont config and bug hunt for 2 hours everytime after adding or deleting mods? I’m at the point that if I add a bit more mods the game spergs out and corrupts the save file.
for me it’s opposite. Different things for different folks ![]()
And I get that. I am just saying that WoW is going the more sustainable route, which should be expected.
I mean, nothings really changed. They added some stuff to the maw and did some tuning, other than that it’s about the same as it was two months ago.
That being said apparently i’m an idiot because I absolutely loved Legion as an expansion, and I wish I could go back to 2016 just to play it again.
And I’m getting those same kind of vibes from SL right now. I did not feel this way leading into BFA as the theme seemed boring.
Man I was almost 50 hours into the game when suddenly my saves got corrupted due to some mod conflict.
The pain I experienced over the progress lost was legendary

tbh i’m not quite sure what i could say to convince you on that point if you’re satisfied with what they gave us. i’m not. if the intention was to bring WoW customization up to par with competitive MMOs, they failed pretty spectacularly IMHO
to list a few examples: undead were originally supposed to be able to select damaged areas for each limb (bones showing on one leg, etc)
worgen fems got no new hair options
trolls didn’t get beards, a very popular and sensible demand for years
scars and tattoos and eyebrows being limited by race and gender is very odd
it’s important to keep criticisms within realistic boundaries, i acknowledge that: it wouldn’t be fair to expect varying body types at this point (though i wouldn’t mind a height slider). but even within the very limited spectrum of available character customization, there just weren’t that many compelling options to choose from
Unpopular opinion, but I find WoW’s gameplay to be lacking.
I know a lot of people say WoW’s biggest strength is the combat feels good, but I feel like all my spells/abilities feel unimpactful.
It could be an animation issue or that I’m not decked out in mythic gear. But I feel like my attacks don’t have any real OOMPH to them.
The only thing I find fun in the combat recently was trying out Enchance shaman and got really lucky and was able to keep resetting stormdtrike off itself over and over again, only for my next battle to get no procs and have some off-time before being able to cast another spell
