I know plenty of people did this. But my question: is this a banable offense?
Back in my Vanilla days on Twisting Nether alliance side. In our raiding guild we would all keep lvl 1 alts logged out where Doom Lord Kazzak spawned. And when we would find out that Horde was attempting to kill Doom Lord Kazzak. Half our raid would log onto our alts and die to Lord Kazzak thus healing him and stalling the horde from killing him or better yet wiping. Meanwhile the rest of the raid would head to The Blasted Lands to finish off the horde raid in attempt to wipe them. Then we log on our mains get a summon and steal the Doom Lord Kazzak kill.
Usually what happened was no one got the kill lol it turned into a 40 vs 40 battle of the guilds and whoever won would attempt to kill Doom Lord Kazzak as fast a possible since the loosing side was usually suffering from a rez timer. Sometimes succeeding sometimes failing.
We never did it to Alliance. But if Horde was attempting we 100% made an effort to stall or wipe them.
Is this banable offense or a piece of crap thing to do? I loved it! Only because we were screwing over the Horde. We never did it to Alliance. But always felt it was appropriate for the āif its red itās deadā mentality in vanilla.
LOL. I hate that you did this to horde but itās so damn funny.
I think it falls under clever use of mechanics to grief. Muhahahahaha
Kinda brilliant but itās kinda cheap.
Sounds like a morally grey area.
Hope a blue answers.
Itās game mechanics. People in this new era of wow will cry and cry claiming harassment until people get banned for it. Perfectly fine if you roll a PvP server in my mind.
We were a RP-PVP server. So i felt it was very appropriate two-fold. We fulfilled the RP element of destroying the Horde whenever we could because we were the āgoodā guys. And that what good guys do! lmao And the PVP element of if āIf itās red, itās dead!ā
However, i completely see your point though about harrasment. I can only imagine the fourm post about this when someone does it to their guild.
haha thank you! I seriously hope they make a Classic RP-PVP server because that is where im going to be! I loved mixing RP elements with PVP just made the world feel so much more immersive and brutal!
I may be mistaken, however I believe Blizzard published a proper policy on Kazzak griefing sometime in '05 or maybe '06 which said that griefing your own faction was not on, however PVP griefing was fine.
I canāt for the life of me find a source, but I remember something like this being announced during vanilla & being carried forward on p servers. Itās definitely one of the things I expect Blizz to take a stance on before or early during Classicās launch.
Hey, back then it WAS War-craft, and we were loyal to our faction. Weāre all guilty of something in those days where we were making life harder on the other faction. I remember farming ācore of earthā on elementals with my orc warlock, and an alliance would show up and try to take over my farm spot⦠well, I simply ran up to the elemental he had engaged and banished it. If he moved to another, Iād banish that one, and immediately tag the previous he was fighting and steal it. After a few rounds of that, the alliance player would move on. It was WAR-craft!
I mean, this went on on quite a few servers (including the one I played on, although I was never around when it happened) as late as Mists of Pandaria when Galleon spawned. So it wouldnāt make sense for it to be a bannable offense on the Classic server, which is supposed to be a faithful recreation of the environment of the time.
