Don't Use Raider IO, IL is enough

I feel the same way, mainly because of the large quantities of trash in dungeons this xpac. I hate trash, and M+ is like giving trash steroids so they can have boss-like mechanics but then drop 2g when you’re done.

Then to have to do each key level for each dungeon just to boost my IO rating high enough to finally get into a M+ that awards gear I actually need is just too masochistic for me.

Can’t even do it.

The major problem is that there’s no counter solution. If the weekly mythic chest awarded gear that’s scaled to your current ilvl, then that could be abused by running low lvl keys to get good loot. On the other hand, we could have a system now where you get garbage loot while you’re working on building your IO score.

I think I’ll sit this one out with regards to the dungeon scene.

Which is why good players use IO. People who regularly clear 15’s or higher would rarely wipe on simple things.

Well to be fair MMOs are about grinding but I will say that I agree the instanced content grind is a bit too much for my liking.

You might have narrowed down part of why I dislike dungeons so much but love raiding.

But what about the player who’ve cleared only a few 15s, but not enough for a good IO. Say in a case where you have that guy who has a IL of 400, and hes a really good player and understands the game well and can adapt well. Then you have some rando with a BIIG IO, but his IL is 390 and he knows the mechanics, but he still screws up a lot, would you really take the 390 over the 400?

Nope. Ilvl isn’t enough

Ok so 400 is nothing right now. You get 400 by doing 10s. If you’re I’m probably not bringing you, don’t care what your io is, not enough damage is not enough damage.

Boney I don’t think you quite grasp how much choice you have when you form a key and your group has a healer (or even better) a tank in it. If I put a key up I get DPS insta-queueing. 20 dps within a minute, easily. Now by what metric am I supposed to judge who to take?

Personally, this is what I do. First, I look at item level. Then, I mouse over and check their io. Assuming it’s not trash (sub 600) I will look them up. If they are in the 800-1100 range I’ll copy/paste their raider(dot)io URL and check the website. Why? I want to see how many times they’ve run the dungeon I’m running. I’ve had many a successful run with 800 io score players (which most would deem “too low”) simply by looking them up and seeing that although they might not have done the key on a 10, they’ve ran the key 10+ times on various difficulties so likely know what they’re doing.

This of course is if there’s no 1400+ players. If there are those, AND they have good item level, then they’re in.

Oh and another thing that is very important is class composition. You want melee, stuns, purges are good, soothe fo raging week, battle rez, things like that.

Also, who is this fictitious person who has 410 ilvl yet is too busy to no life wow? I literally just looked up the guild Limit and not even they have all their characters at 410 ilvl, a lot are lower, and they literally no lifed wow to try get world first.

If you’re referring to yourself, I wouldn’t take you. 389 is OK, but 285 is an abysmal score, you’re 6/9H and have no mythic progress.

The reality is, competition for DPS spots in a key is fierce, and you don’t measure up by any standard. I do sometimes take people with medium io score if their mythic prog is super high (I’ve had some 8/8M Uldir people that had mediocre io score, likely only doing their weekly 10s).

There’s multiple ways to guess at a player’s skill level, and looking at your profile, you don’t measure up. But back to your original statement: If I did use only ilvl, you still wouldn’t get invited, because your ilvl would be lower than everyone else’s that queued up.

Having a high io score shows that they have experience in high level keys, which means the chance of them being good is much higher than someone with no score. And any noob can get a high ilvl by just afking some warfronts and doing incursions and getting some lucky titanforge so ilvl doesn’t tell you much in bfa.

I don’t use IO. I actually do though look at Warcraft Logs on characters progressions though for my groups. And no, iLvl is completely meaningless this expansion.

If you want ilvl queue stick to LFR and random heroics. Nobody is forcing you to do M+

So here’s the thing. First off it doesn’t take anywhere near “3 hours” to put together a group for M+. Far from it my friend.

When you post up a group within minutes you have 10-20 people signing up. So you tell me, objectively speaking why in the world would anybody take someone with a low io score when there’s 2 full groups or more worth of people to pick from who all have a good score? You’re not getting excluded because your score is low, you’re getting excluded because everyone else trying to get into that group has a higher one.

If you’re hiring for a job you don’t toss out a dozen resume’s with a proven track record of knowing what they’re doing and then hire the guy who’s never worked a job in his life just because he says he knows what he’s doing. Can you honestly tell me that if you were putting together a group you’d pick the unknown guy over the other guys who can undeniably prove their ability and experience?

You can’t go by item level because that means nothing anymore. BfA is a loot pinata and having even a 400 item level doesn’t mean you’ve actually done any meaningful content.

yeah all I care about is your ilvl.

I use raider io and it takes me less than 15 minutes to fill a higher level key I have never had a problem raider io has only helped, don’t listen to OP

I don’t do high keys and I have no issue with people using a tool like raiderio.
It’s easy enough if you want to start your own group honestly.

Let me stop you there. How do you decide if this person is a good player?

Why do people feel the need to claim someone who has a high io score doesn’t work an just no life wow, it doesn’t take long to get a decent score especially when pushing your own key an using raider io to put groups together. I work full time an haven’t had a problem plugging my plus ten every week since launch.

No. Ilvl isn’t enough. Raider io shows experience, that’s what matters. It’s way too easy to have a high ish ilvl.

Don’t use item level. Judge based on their transmog only.

Jokes aside. You can never have too much information. Don’t use the score, that’s a misleading metric. Look them up on the website and see how they compare to you. The add-on has a great feature actually. There is a little magnifying glass. Click that, and copy the text in the field there. Then paste it anywhere while you have the website open. Not into the search or url bar. Just anywhere in the website and a list of all candidates will open. Really nice feature.
Use that if you actually care about your group.

If you are only using score you might as well be using transmog because for some reason the add-on still shows season 1 score.

Actually, this isn’t really true. Too much information (metrics) in a game where most people think they know how to analyze metrics but really don’t just compiles the problem of people coming up with any excuse to exclude others.

Says the guy who hides his profile cause he only does lfr an maybe a plus 2

It doesn’t measure skill, just experience.
