Random bgs used to be the end game for casuals subscribing to do PvP. They have been repurposed. For those players who did not want to do rated, there is now no end game.
Iāve given up on Shadowlands period. 20 hours left on my sub then done.
I donāt think resil being on PvP gear and actually just being a flat dmg reduc would confuse new players. That seems overly silly.
Nah, it wouldnāt because then they would need to redesign the whole game again to counter the fact that monks and druids wouldnāt have their BiS stat.
I donāt think itās just monks and druids, either. I think it was skill capped who came out with a video this week for pvp and in it said every single spec wants versatility for pvp as their best and main stat. Healers, tanks, DPS, all 36 specs want it. It might not have been Skill Capped, though Iāll have to see if I can find the video I was watching earlier. It was pretty interesting.
you must not pvp then, because it isnt equal and the only reason pvpers bother to step foot in pve is for the better gear. dont be a clown, we dont waste time raiding for fun.
Which is why PVE gear should not work in PVP. Making PVErs actually work to get their PVP gear instead of allowing them to steamroll people with their lucky drops from the raid or mythic they afkād their way through might actually encourage them to play MORE.
I meanā¦thatās the argument that was thrown at PVPers for the life of this game, right? If we want gear and the ability to play the game on equal footing we should āworkā for it.
So why then are PvErs allowed to only do half the game to get gear that allows them to dominate every aspect of the game. Sounds like hand outs to me.
It is equal in item level. Conquest gear starts out at 200 item level. Normal raid is 200. conquest upgrades at combat to 207, then at duelist or is it challenger. the 1600 mark gives 213, which is heroic raid ilvl. the 1800 mark gives something I believe, and I know the 2400 mark gives 226.
Benchmarks for PvE:
Normal: 200 for 8; 207 for bosses 9 and 10.
Heroic: 213 for 8, 220 for bosses 9 and 10
Mythic: 226 for 8, 233 for bosses 9 and 10
PvP:
Base conquest ; 0-1399 rating; 200 ilvl
Combatant; 1400-1599; 207
Challenger? If I got that right or Duelist; 1600-1799; 213
Challenger or Duelist, whatever the previous isnāt; 1800-2099; 220
The Gladiator for PvP at 2400 is 226
Like, is it 233? No, is it 226, which is mythic 8 bosses? Yes. Mythic raiding is doing top end, highest rated PvPers get 226.
oh so it isnt equal. i see i was right.
Just throwing my own experience in here as a pvp tank. At the end of BfA, I loved random unrated BGs because with my PvE gear + scaling I actually felt like a tank. I couldnāt do a bit of DPS, but groups had to work to kill me, and it all felt reasonable. It was really fun.
Also in the beginning of SL, because nobody had gear yet, I also enjoyed it. I was on fairly equal footing with the opposing team.
But now? Every day itās getting less and less fun to play casual BGs. They are almost universally blowouts, either because of ilvl or premades. And hey, as Iāve said in a previous post, Iām not trying to stop anyoneās playstyle or fun. I totally understand rated PvPers wanting to enjoy the fruits of their labors.
All Iāll say is that over time, meaning the next weeks and months, random BGs will only be populated by Mythic+ geared and Rated PvPers, because casuals can only take a beating for so long before just walking away.
And maybe thatās just fine, maybe theyāll all enjoy it and people like me will just find our kicks elsewhere. I would hate to see that happen though, because it all just feels broken somehow. Everyone of all playstyles should have fun in PvP and feel competitive. But if you cap gear for casuals, and cap progression for rated, I think just everyone is having a bad time.
No idea how to fix this. But Blizz has hundreds of developers and millions of our dollars to find better solutions. I just donāt know if they actually care or not. Or maybe they did the math and itās an unsolvable problem.
Perfect balance might be an idealistic, unachievable goal. But thereās got to be something better than the current system.
It is equal in that you still are getting mythic equivalent gear for PvP. Are you wanting 233? It might go to 233, but Iām pretty sure itās only 226. 226 is still MYTHIC RAID LEVEL GEAR for more than 50% of the raid. You know a mythic raider will have maybe 3 more pieces that come from the final bosses, at most, right? Thatās it. You get a 40% damage boost from PvP trinkets plus a lot more versatility on PvP gear, a LOT more versatility. Yeah, Iād say that should cover it.
Looking at the final 2 bosses in the raid it was 6 total pieces of gear if you count conduits as gear; conduit, weapon, cloak, chest, ring, trinkets. PvP trinkets make up for the PvE trinekts. The weapon is probably the biggest factor but again PvP weapon having so much versatility on it. The ring is haste/mastery, whereas PvP rings are Versa/something with mega big Versa.
Because PvP gear is gated behind conquest points. You have to buy the conquest pieces with conquest points and you get a cap of 550 per week while raiding you can jump right into the 226 with mythic raid.
If you get loot, cool, and also the fact is; a lot of the high end rated PvPers are doing what they can to get the gear the fastest they can and get up there on that scoreboard.
why is every single serious pvpers raiding for gear then?
stop blabbering nonsense. I am right, accept it.
Actually it is a Blizzard problem. WOD and past xpacs where great for pvpers. Since they did not have to compete gear wise with mouth breathing pve. That just follow DBM instructions while fighting a boss to get gear. Hint no one in pvp even rated has the gear yet that a pver does constantly running mythics, due to how time gated pvp gear is currently. Need to go back to the days of resilience etc⦠Because Versatility really does crap.
Really? Then this was a troll thread?

Im leveling an alt, sub rogue getās nerf and i want a spider.
PvErs have 2 routes for gearing up; dungeons which have mythic+ which is an infinite spam for as long as your sanity can withstand it, and raiding which is only a weekly lockout.
PvP has 2 routes in that; Honor farm gear, which goes to m0 level until renown gets up then itll be 197, which is barely normal raid equivalent and then doing rated pvp for conquest
It takes no rating to buy the conquest gear, but it does take rating in order to upgrade the conquest gear. Once you have the rating to upgrade the conquest gear you must also have the honor in order to upgrade it. The tradeoff for PvE and PvP is that PvE is entirely gated behind RNG. You either do get a piece or you donāt get a piece, but their mythic+ system is infinitely spammable 24/7. You must get lucky, though, or have someone trade the piece to you if they get it and donāt want.
PvP you have a lot more control over your choices you get because every piece of gear is on that vendor and you choose the order in which you want to buy/receive them.
PvEers are stuck / gated behind both sanity and RNG. PVP is gated behind 3-4 things; sanity and skill/conquest points/rating.
PvPers swapped over to PvE because itās easier gearing up. Itās literally always been easier getting high end gear from PvE over fighting players in PvP. Thatās been like that since classic Iām sure.
Thanks you just proved my point why pvp and pve should be kept seperate. With seperate gear to be able to do both like it used to be. Since Pvers can grab that monster drink and do constant spam to have top gear in just a week. While straight up pvpers are stuck time gated.
Personally, I canāt wait to get resilience on my gear. Best stat ever.
You already have it. Itās Versatility. Versatility does the same thing PvP stats did, it just works in PvE too now, instead of being 100% useless in PvE like it was before.
PvP power was one of my favs, too. āI got mega gear and all this PvP powerā¦thatā¦on this world bossā¦does absolutely nothing for me because itās PvE and not PvPā¦ā
Yep, those stats you guys love so much have just been baked in so that they function for PvPers inside of PvE as well as in PvP too. It was fun seeing non druid tanks sitting in PvP gear when defense rating was a thing and watching them be 1 shot because they got no crit reduction or anything that the PvE side needed.
What do you think PvP power did? Resilience, PvP power, all of them only increased either your damage, healing or reduced your damage taken, in PvP.
What does Versatility do? Increases your damage, your healing, and reduces your damage taken. Literally the same exact functionality, except that Vers works in PvE content not just PvP content.
All it did was literally boost your damage and healing in PvP. Literally it. They just scaled it up higher because it was its own stat. I mean, just ask Blizz to scale up Vers much higher in PvP and youāve got it back.
LOL vers is pointless you stack it to get what a lowly ten percent damage decrease tops. Where as far as damage goes you want your main stats over vers. So yeah pointless. Like I said they need to bring back pvp power and resilience for pvp. Like it used to be which caused people in pve gear to get one shot, over the way it is now. Where people that have just pvped get one shotted by pve geared people in pvp.
I donāt play much retail but I read the boards and it sounds like Classic was so successful they designed SL to be more like it. Wild class imbalance, OP pve gear, gear scarcity etc. etc.
