TBF, 99% of the lore in BC didn’t make a damn bit of sense when you really think about it, so bringing back Illidan and retconning a lot of Illidan’s motivations at the time was probably one of the best things they could have done with Illidan.
I like the whole chosen one shtick they had going on with him and Xe’ra because it didn’t end with Illidan getting a supermadcrazywtfbqqsauce upgrade and just wrecking legion face. I think his story in Legion played out in a legit interesting way … until they locked him up with the titans. Like why? Illidan is not on their level or anywhere close to it… if the other titans end up not being able to contain Sargeras, Illidan would not make a difference.
Sylvanas flew completely off the rails after Wrath, and I mean immediately. Arthas may have killed and raised her in undeath, but compared to what Cataclysm did to her, that was nothing.
The minute you get offed by a C-Tier leveling villain, you cease to matter. Sylvanas’ last chance for a fulfilling exit was Wrath, and ever since then it’s been screaming downhill. Her value and presence have been grotesquely prolonged, and her methods and competency have gone full cartoon supervillain.
Killing her now would be an act of narrative mercy.
Whatever happens to her, it won’t be enough to make up for what she did. You can certainly trust Blizzard to fail in that department. There will be no retribution, no payback, no justice, no atonement, no vindication, no satisfaction. I can practically guarantee it.
Then all the nonsense the writers put her through was for nothing.
What a waste.
That makes it feel even more like a cheesy choose your own adventure disaster.
There’s no way they kill her. She’ll get redeemed saving Anduin or something. than Sylvanas will take the Jailers place after he is defeated and stay in the Shadowlands once we leave, thus writing her out of the story but keeping her alive for future use.
There, we just cancelled each other out, so your post is null and void.
(I said it many times, she should die there in raid, and have spirit form as most dead characters, send her to Revendreth to repent, then Ardenweald after she paid for her sins where she wanted to go or something. Just make something up about people cursed with undeath being judged differently.
Keeping her alive as she is just doesn’t make sense anymore, you’re running the WoW’s story into the ground.)
