Don't forget about kill stealing!

If you hate the game or the community so much, why are you going to bother with playing Classic?

Rather, levels 4-10. Druids don’t get Moonfire Rank 1 till level 4.

If that’s the case then it’s a BfA or late Legion change.

I haven’t has success finding patch notes

Is it stealing if you hit it first?

I don’t hate the game, in fact, I am extremely happy that I will get to play in the pre-Cata world again.

However, the community is garbage (as evidenced by posters like yourself, Velossena, and Mogar.

It’s not hard to see that the community will not be very good, at least not overall.

But, as you don’t actually need to group up to do anything outside of instanced content, it’s still going to be a lot of fun.

Ok this is confusing. How does that happen if you hit it first and do “most of the damage” but not end up with the tag?

Yeah, I walked away from that conversation. Best I can gather is “got to the mob first” means a long range attack landed before a close range attack could.

Which translates to, you didn’t get to it first, then you kept attacking instead of moving on.

I believe you’re confusing a beta mechanic with a live mechanic.

In beta, it was possible to ‘steal’ a tag by doing some massive percentage of the mob’s health, to prevent people from just moonfiring a mob and letting someone else kill it.

IIRC, this mechanic was removed by release.

You have to do first actual damage to a mob to get a tag. Most Dot’s (other then moonfire) start damaging after a few seconds, so a melee or any other instant attack can do the damage first and take the tag. The way around this is to always start your encounter with Ranged attack (Fast wands/thrown are best)

OK, granted, I have only played on pservers (Nostalrius and Light’s Hope), so please correct me on this! But this is my experience. I can be playing, say, a warlock with DoTs on my target and some other player can come by-- say a warrior, and charge into it, and boom, mob dead, no XP. Actually seems in retrospect to be limited to my lock so maybe something to do with my DoTs not ticking in time.

Edit:

All right, that’s likely what was happening to me. Thanks.

I think you are confusing forum community and in game community. I have always found the forums to be full of much more vitriol than the actual game.

A TBC reference but I recall a poostorm involving a 40 man guild raid 0.01% wiping on Doomwalker outdoors in Shadowmoon Valley and some random solo spectator wanding it and “stealing” the tag from the wiped raid as Doomwalker died, receiving all the loots.

I reckon in Classic when someone is fighting a rare spawn the goal will be to wand it once and then stand back while hoping for the player to wipe. Possible strat for raids fighting Kazzak or emerald dream dragons, as well.

Although I wouldn’t mind if Blizzard shared tags to discourage rewarding maliciousness for progression but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

I’m more concerned about quest item ‘sniping’ XD Pull mobs guarding quest thing you need, Joe Schmo waltzes in and loots it while you’re in combat, loot item takes so damn long to respawn that the mobs have also.

wtb faster quest item spawns, lol.

Looking forward to it. May the best man or woman win.

I remember being alliance on a pve server and often times would see mages or warlocks about to cast a spell and gouge on the last second of their cast to “tag” the mob. They get agro i get exp loot if they kill it. Often times they would lol.

Feign death ftw. If they want it they can have.

Yep I would rage about that

The poster to whom you responded seems to want to play Classic solo, and sees every other player as nothing but an obstacle in their way.

Looking forward to the people complaining about grinding rep in BFA vs classic.

I’m just going to start flagging your posts as harassment, since you seem to be following me around from thread to thread attacking me.
