Don't bully the Council - allow them to do their things

AKA : you’re blaming the players. “Players shouldn’t think that they can give feedback on anything and everything, it’s not all fair game!”.

That’s not how focus groups work. And that’s what Alpha/Beta is : A huge focus group.

And see, this attitude is why I say you blame players. When in fact, you should realise that what you’re saying here is completely insane.

Nothing should be closed to change. If a focus group is telling you massively that something is wrong, “oh but that isn’t something we want to change” is literally going to result in your failure.

Blame Blizzard not for “setting up expectations wrong”, but rather for not going into the Focus group with an open mind. Geez.

This is why people don’t think the Community Council will succeed, Blizzard obviously picked people that already agree with them rather than people willing to challenge them.

Eh, I still think it was important to me to state that person was incorrect. It would be odd to be on the Council or in the CS/TS MVP program and have people on ignore unless they were really abusive and harassing me. Most people don’t do that and the ones that do I just report and let the mods handle it.

I assume they just made a mistake. The forums don’t tell you who ignores you and I most certainly have not posted anything about ignoring people. It is just strange to even post that…like why?

And shadowlands failed because they weren’t ready to back off on it. Maybe you guys should blame Blizzard for not backing off something that was massively unpopular and unfun instead of saying “we shouldn’t have wasted time with all the feedback about it!”.

Without the feedback, SL would have still failed because Covenants were unfun in 9.0 (and still are in quite a few ways).

The blizzard fault here is repeating these systems. They should know now after early legion and early BFA and early shadowlands the feedback seems to be lost every expansion.

They might have found that this was their best way to implement time-gating. Going away from systems would need a whole game overhaul on how they keep players active without forcing them into systems.

40 boss raids?
3h long dungeons?
10000 quest long campaign?

I mean they knew. They were told. Massively. Beta Feedback.

Don’t need a CC to figure that one out. You need a CC to use as a Shield when you approach game design in that fashion. And that’s what the CC ultimately is :

There is the ability to disagree with Blizz but also accept reality. Short of scrapping whole core chunks of the game and delaying release by months, they can’t be open to ALL changes. Most software devs are not.

Is that what you want to happen? You are free to think that and ask for that. I am even cool with some delays if it means a better game.

I still say that Blizz should be honest about what they are open to changing up front. Why waste time with feedback if Blizz is not going to listen.

Dude, shipping the changes we got in 9.1.5 wouldn’t have taken months. It would have taken like a day. They literally removed the Covenant swap penalty once in 9.1 in a hotfix. It’s obviously just a flag they can set to true and false on a whim.

YES! When they delayed Shadowlands for 30 days, most people were happy! When it became obvious they weren’t going to use that delay to actual make meaningful changes, people were upset not about the delay : about the lack of changes. Best to wait for a good game than get what we got!

AKA : you want Blizzard to keep its closed mind.

Because unlike Blizzard, we seem to actually care if WoW succeeds.

You hit it in the nail.

I’ve said it before, the way to clear the air is quite simple.

Who is blizzard making this game for now?

What is the real feedback they want/need?

That’s all. It would bring so much clarity and would make players understand (even if they don’t agree) the direction of the development team.

To be fair most of the forum feedback is an echo chamber of people complaining about whatever they can and others supporting them because they also enjoy complaining

So it’s hard to get it here which is why you don’t see blue posts anymore

No. I was asked to select one posting character to post on in 2013 when I was put on the CS/TS MVP team. I am not allowed to switch chars.

I also have no interest in people badgering me in game. Either you value a post for what it is, or choose to disregard it. Up to you. This has been my my posting char for a long time though - and is what people here know me as.

Who exactly was Conduit Energy made for ?

Answer that and you’ll know who this game is being made for nowadays : MAU. Except their problem that designing for MAU doesn’t mean players stay hooked running the rat race. Most are just moving on.

The whole of 9.0 was designed to force a 16 week play window. It was transparent. Their bet was if they made it so where everyone was funneled into being stuck playing for 16 weeks, they’d get an easy 4 months of MAU to shine on a quarterly.

Wait, I thought.

Which is it ?

Yes but when you see a post with tens of thousands of views and thousands of replies. Most all saying the same thing and it goes ignored. Thats on the leadership of a company. “echo chamber” or not.

Me personally, I am sick of the excuses.

I was just kidding around. Sorry, I should watch myself.

The forums… people on the forums know me as Mirasol. If you think that makes someone well known or famous, so be it.

My point was that I am very much not “well known” in the WoW community. Not a lot of people hang out on the forums, much less where I more often post. BUT for those who do, they know me as Mirasol and have since 2013.

I think you realize that… I don’t really want to get into a big debate about a green fish in a tiny pond. Most of the WoW Community only knows the streamers, main theory crafters, bloggers, guide writers, etc. Being green does not make you well known or important. It just makes your text stand out.

If I thought being an MVP made me famous, I would hope someone gave me a reality check.

Well, considering no one is asking you to be a Hollywood star or anything, it’s just further proof that in fact, most people picked for CC are actually well known as the other posted and you tried to deny.

Why deny it at first and now just admit it ? It’s a contradiction in your argument, you have to admit that.

Dude, you were an MVP. Please. Stop. Stop taking us for idiots.
