I want to preface with, TBC has always been my favorite expansion by Blizzard, I even liked it better than OG classic (crazy I know)
TBC Anniversary however has felt like a shell of OG TBC and even 2021 TBC. I will list some of the reasons now.
-Bots are more rampant then ever, AH costs are so absurd.
-Small loot tables for a shorter cadence has been awful. As a fury warrior, I have not seen a DST or Spiteblade yet and have won about 3 items in doing Gruul/Mag/Kara even though I haven’t missed a week. I have not had fun raiding at all
-Tank Shortage has been awful, I try to sign in during the time I have to play and it takes 45 minutes to find a tank. Many nights I just log off because we can’t find one (No I am not Offspec tanking because I do not enjoy it)
-The community is so toxic. Everyone is selfish, needing on primal nethers when they don’t even need it, HRing literally every good item, people dropping groups and raids if there is even one wipe. People quitting guilds weekly, not showing up to raids they signed up for, taking gear they dont need etc.
Seems like there is just no community. People care about their own gear and their own parse and nothing else matters. I guess it really reflects how the world is these days, especially with social media. Everything is toxic, no one cares about anyone else, inflated egos(over a game ) plus Blizz has done nothing to improve the game and gives us literally no feedback ever. It has just not been a fun experience and truly has felt like a hollow shell of the game we all loved. I am hoping Classic + is better, because that is the last hope for me.
I’ve had people from other guilds beg for us to farm gear for them and boost them in dungeons just cause we had full tier gear etc already. It’s at a point other players think I’m gonna start playing just to get everything they need, I completely understand 100% I ran shattered halls with a druid who started whining because 4/5 people did not want to help him farm the first boss for his item. It’s legit sad to see how everyone has become selfish, I got blessed for once in 20 years I am in a guild, everyone gets along and everything is fair. No one has ninjad anything, we all trust each other. We still have rules and such, but even new members in the guild leave because we dont carry them trough heroics daily to help them get their entire bis gear / sets. And even when you do end up helping them, just lose 1 roll on something they tend to rage quit, leave.

Bots? Some of them can’t even be reported lately and I have 0 clue why.
I think deciding to do roll Anny into TBC instead of doing a fresh server screwed the economy more than the bots could. The bots will always be there but having accounts that existing so long in Anny rolling into TBC with so much gold and more people playing the AH game more than ever hurts fresh accounts. Blizz also deciding to keep heroics pre-nerf is a mistake IMO as most tanks don’t want to bother dealing with players that just want to pew pew zug heroics. I’d rather just zug the content as well as I’ve done it 3 times through now. I don’t look for TBC for a “challenge”, this is a parking lot for Classic + for me.
I had a similar experience with TBC. The first few weeks were fun cuz its new, so much to do, and pre bis gearing is awesome. But I quit after a few weeks cuz of a few reasons you said. Mainly the tank shortage and lack of gear dropping. I also I am already sick of raidlogging. People forget how much of a raid log game TBC is. The thought of just running SSC, TK, and then eventually Black Temple where I just raid for the night and then log off until next week felt like such a chore. It’s boring when there is nothing to do on your main but doing the raid once a week.
Ah is roughly the same but yes farming is over crowded making gold making harder. I don’t see many open world bots just regular players and a lot of them

So you are basically admitting that the tank shortage is because tanking in the old 2007 version of the game sucks and you agree that it sucks. So why do you expect others to want to tank for you when you won’t even tank for urself?
This is just the classic playerbase. They’re legit awful. They only care about themselves in game and are legitimately so horrendously bad at the game.
That’s classic. It’s always been like this. It was like this on pservers and in 2019. And on SoM and SoD. Why would it be different now?
Some people have really warped mindsets, when I pug something, even if it’s 5 man, i try to treat the pugs like i would treat someone that i know, i was doing some dungeons recently with a warrior who’s a friend of a friend, sort of. Anyway a nether dropped and i passed on it and he needed on it and i was like oh are u making something with it and he said nah i just don’t care if the pugs need it. I guess he just banks it for no reason? or destroys it? no clue
Honestly the worst runs i’ve ever had is being in a group of 4 friends + me as the pug
Definitely feel for you, and it’s completely valid if you aren’t enjoying TBC this time around. Out of curiosity though, why’d you switch to an alt and reply to your original post to agree with yourself?

AH prices seem very reasonable to me unless you are expecting BOE epics without a grind or popping haste pots on post-nerf bosses for some reason. Prices were only crazy for a couple weeks after release due to limited quantities.

If Blizz doubled the loot you’d just quit out of boredom once you were full BIS. The only legitimate complaint here is if they end up releasing pre-nerf content, then people aren’t getting enough gear to do the content as intended. Realistically Blizz should add T4 gear to the badge vendor once T5 is released due to the accelerated timeline.

You rolled a class that is an awful DPS in heroics and refuse to tank. I can build a group in 5 minutes as a warlock. Put on a shield or get your guild to carry you.

You say this yet complain loot isn’t falling from the sky and you refuse to tank as Blizz intended you to do.
I agree with some of this, but keep in mind, the community will follow. Same players, same people HR items, not showing up to raids, etc.. classic + won’t change this.
I’ve had a time trying to cope with the community for a while and if you don’t accept that there are just really crappy people out there, it’ll never get better.
Find the fun in the game where you can, if you can. If you can’t, might definitely be time to call it. I’ve done that before, but came back and learned it’s the way it is now sadly and just have fun with what I can!
Tank shortage is the only thing I fully understand, as someone who mains a Prot Paladin. It’s crazy to see how absurdly toxic and rude pug dps are to the tanks that they waited an hour to find in the first place.
Pulling extra packs because they don’t think you’re going fast enough then wipe the group as if I don’t know what my limits are as a tank in my 30th run of this dungeon, “Why did you pull that pack! we can skip it! you just wasted 15 seconds!” , refusing to use interrupts or CC. All before you look at details and see that they are maybe doing as much dps as you.
Or my favorite are the dps who think that consecrate instantly does 15k threat so the millisecond the pack gets to you they are throwing seeds, blizzards, cleaving as hard as possible, pulling threat and dying then crying about how bad the tank is.
