On multiple characters, I am getting a bug where I cant do the other raid difficulties. I accidently ran ICC on 25 normal. I zoned out and was like no big deal Ill just change it to heroic - it should be a different ID and run it. However it wont let me zone into 10 man or 10 man heroic or 25 man heroic.
This is happening on multiple characters… is this a bug or working as intended. When I played in the past you could do each difficulty each week.
For reference my Raid ID page ONLY shows ICC normal - does not show any other lockouts
you can only run icc once a week period
Its doing the same thing on Mogoshuan Vaults now too.
This is going to apply to every raid up until Throne of Thunder. It was not changed until Siege of Orgrimmar.

Lot of the older raids were locked to one type with one amount of people.
For historical clarity, many (all?) of these raids weren’t introduced with this limitation. You could, when it launched, run both 10- and 25-man Icecrown during a given week (something I did regularly), and you could also change difficulty between normal and heroic while inside as well once you defeated the Lich King (though heroic Lich King required all other bosses to have been defeated on heroic difficulty). At some point over the many (over 15) years since then it has been changed, and you’re now restricted to a single size on a single difficulty each week.
I don’t pretend to know when this change was introduced. It was quite likely when the systems were changed to introduce the mythic difficulty mode to Siege (it only launched with normal and heroic) in 2014 with the Warlords of Draenor pre-patch. That’s still over a decade ago, however, so it’s not like this is a recent change and the behaviour is very much expected at this point.

This was actually also untrue for a decent length of time prior to them changing these lockouts. I should know, as my mage held an 11/12N ICC lockout for well over a year while I farmed Invincible. I only did one weekly clear on this character, but I was always able to engage the Lich King on Heroic after zoning in to the 11/12N and flipping difficulty. I looted Invincible in October of 2016.
As for when the change was made, I would estimate it occurred during the release of one of the timewalking versions of the three raids that now have it; likely during Ulduar’s itself, as that is when they were already messing with lockouts in Wrath to begin with due to modifying that raid and its loot into one singular difficulty (as well as Wrath having the first raids which held normal/Heroic lockouts with in-instance switching).

My mistake. Perhaps that was just something we did out of an abundance of caution, or simply for the gear. Appreciate the correction.
In Wrath, I know that was a requirement. It’s possible they lifted it when they removed the limited attempts during Cata’s initial pre-patch I think it was.
To answer your question… Yes this is intended functionality and has been for a long time. How long, doesn’t matter, but it IS intended.
