Do you have an explanation why they’re removing quality of life options from the game then? I just don’t understand the decisions they’re making and stated such in my post.
The most irritating thing of all for me: Blizzard saying at blizzcon that they made shadowlands by collaborating with players and they will continue doing so. Really?
They never communicate anything to us outside of major conventions/events. We have no idea what their design philosophy is. There is no more ‘fireside chats’. Why can’t blizzard just engage with the community about things that are discussed on the forums so we can understand their perspective? Hire a community manager, have them bring you a list of ‘hot topics’ for the week to a zoom meeting on Friday, then they can relay that to us the following week–heavily vetted, since that seems to be Blizz’s preference. I just dont get the reluctance. They always tell us that they are ‘discussing things’ at conventions, so just give the community some insight.
Some of them are obvious with a little critical thinking…
The loot reduction was to compensate for the removal of the gimmick gear systems, ensuring that it takes about the same amount of time to BiS gear.
Flight whistles and Flight paths were unneeded because as multiple GD threads have pointed out…the zones are relatively small
They didn’t actually nerf loot from old raids, they changed it to legacy loot which is a higher quantity of items but not itemized. This is actually a good change with the implementation of personal loot
The Flight Master’s Whistle will not be in Shadowlands. Some of this is due to the way Shadowlands is laid out and the way that our quest wrappers at max level are laid out. We don’t have emissaries any more and instead, we have Callings that will send you to a single zone. Navigating within that zone there are transportation options, especially if you are a member of that given zone, through unlocking your covenant’s transportation network.
What spawned the Flight Whistle was things like the Warden and Kirin Tor emissaries in Legion, or the War Campaign objectives in BFA, where you’d look at the map and the game was telling you ‘hey you need to visit these four zones and criss-cross thousands of yards in game in order to complete this single objective.’ That turned into an onerous amount of travel time, but in Shadowlands, we’re not asking players to do that in the same way this time around. Plus…there’s a little bit of the fantasy of the whistle in the Shadowlands and all that.
I think your critical thinking is a little flawed…
It takes way longer to gear and even Blizzard said there is a problem with loot. I don’t know why you’re defending them when they’ve already admitted the problem.
And numerous world quests are in the middle of nowhere, sometimes with dozens of elites blocking the road. The flight whistle would be very nice there.
It seems like you’re just blindly defending Blizzard when there are legitimate complaints.
The first solution could include changes like adding commas and the like to large numbers. We could also compress all of those 1000s to Ks and all of those 1,000,000s to Ms, much like we do with boss health today. Internally, we have been calling this the “Mega Damage solution” because instead of your Fireball hitting for 6,000,000 damage, it would hit for 6 MEGA DAMAGE (queue the Arcanite Ripper guitar solo).
Mythic loot for minimal work kek. If by mythic you mean m0 then that is correct. WQ loot was still bad though cause it outscaled lfr and normal raid tier pieces. Which unlike legion (which never went above those thresholds unless titanforged) removed sense of progression and enabled behavior for people to wait and parallel level an army of normal ilvl alts for practically no purpose in current content (usually done to solo prior expansions for mounts).
Maybe read the post before insulting me? I said it would be crazy to do stuff to spite their customers and I don’t believe that’s why theyre doing it. I just couldn’t understand their motivations.
It isn’t. If you’re on a forum dedicated to a children’s game and you’re spending your free time complaining about how aspects of that game are ruining your life… it’s stupid.
The only time the Flight Whistle was annoying was in Drustvar and Vol’dun when it would take you to flight paths locked behind quests. Once they fixed it to only flight paths you’ve discovered, it was fine. I always continued to use the whistle quite a bit even with flying, because I would hop on a flight path and go afk to do something else all the time.
Everyone chooses what they care about in life, what is not stupid to you could be to someone else Regardless, it’s best not to call what people care about stupid because you’re just going to cause a disruption.
While I agree with most of the decisions you mention in the OP, there are reasons for all of them that are not “because we hate you”. Almost all of them are related to slowing you down so you keep paying for more monthly subscriptions. The owners of the game are now treating this as a product to make money from primarily instead of a game for people to play and have fun with, and that shows in the product.
I know you think that applies, but it really doesn’t. Me pointing out that a house is on fire doesn’t mean that I set that house on fire. If you got defensive over my comment, that probably says more about you.
You can care about WoW, I didn’t say WoW was stupid. I said that peoples complaints were stupid, and probably a bit idiotic if I’m being fair. Do people genuinely believe that Ion hates the community? Take OP’s post for example, it’s incredibly biased, and doesn’t take into account any of the positive changes that have been made… yet here we are, so many lemming posts later, with people nodding their angry gullible heads in unison.
