Does spec based item level lock still exist?

It’s been a couple of expansions since I’ve had to think about this, but I know back in BFA you weren’t allowed to trade loot that was higher item level than your previously equipped gear, per spec. i.e., if I had a 400 dps trinket and 380 heal trinket, if personal loot pushed me a 390 heal trinket I would not be able to trade it to the party healer.

Is this still the case due due to discouraging loot funneling, or did this get removed? I would like to help my friends get rare trinkets they’ve been eyeing but don’t want to wind up with more trade locked drops.

Was never specced locked was always equipped or in bags. But yes can’t trade id higher than equipped

I still remember one of our healers not being able to trade a font of power because it was higher item level than her elemental trinkets, a spec which she never played. I think that’s the maddest I’ve ever seen her.
