I seem to be doing fine tbh. I haven’t got into any raids but I’m definitely not bottom dpsing in any group content I’ve gotten into.
Also I don’t really know what procs you’re talking about most of the time I just try to set up Judgement to be followed by Templars verdict, blade of justice or even wake of ash (Blade->Judge->Inquisition->Wake)
Some things you just get used to, after a while you really won’t be looking at your ui at all. IF you are having trouble get something like Hekili and just press what it says, sometimes it does show suboptimal choices but it’s quite decent if you are starting a spec and are having trouble.
I use the default UI with a weak aura hud (I use Luxthos’ weak auras) and Hekili to help with the “rotation” because I’m not doing cutting edge content. I haven’t found any problems with it.
I move the player/target frames though, I don’t leave them in the upper left.
Is there an argument why the default UI is bad? There’s just some procs with massive visual indicators, holy power, and your CDs to manage. It’s not like we have DoTs to maintain or a wound count to leverage.
I think the best playstyle with ret is to take your 2h weapon and smash yourself in the face with it while you are waiting for this or that cooldown.
