Does anyone 'member?

Oh god I totally forgot about Susan.

Here’s a couple more random membas:

Horde accusing AAO and heavily outnumbered Alliance forces of exploiting game mechanics for taking a caravan of siege weapons the long butt way around Wintergrasp or hiding siege weapons till we could strike. Xara, Thane and other’s tactics were sneaky and we didn’t always get a win but when we did it was a great feeling.

Ralph(?) ninja-ing the Ashes of Alar

Using Eyes of the Beast to be annoying in old Orgrimaar. I found a sneaky wall jumping spot in order to get on top of the old hall of valor(?) in the Valley of Honor and I would send my pet out to attack players just enough to be annoying or confuse them. Very rarely did anyone actually find me or figure out how to get up to me.

I 'member the Death Run to Stormwind that took me through Wetlands on my newbie druid back when I started in TBC.

I just wanted to learn aquatic form…

Stares into the distance.

Please, Mr. Raptor! Not the face! Not the faaaaace!

I’m at a weird position where I miss class quests, but I wish they could be not quite so obtuse.

Not really weird. You enjoyed their uniqueness and stories, that’s totally fair.

I recall the very first time I played.

It was during the Pre-Wrath event.

It was also during Hallow’s End.

So much going on for someone new to the game. I was happy to get to Westfall to quest since there weren’t as many people spreading the ghoul plague there.

I do miss the warlock class quests.

Yes, and I would like them to come back…but not as they were, if that makes sense.

Like, design a better quest than going to Westfall and drowning a lot.

I’ve noticed that the types who RP hyperaggressive, hateful, murderous, disruptive characters tend to display this really bizarre entitlement. They believe they are owed a reaction, especially one in their favor.

My stance on these types anymore is along the lines of “Oh, Mog’ugh’tharg’tok Babyeater thinks I’m a weak whelp? Great, my toon doesn’t care at all.”

Never fails to enrage. Other players just FURIOUS my shaman didn’t care about their weird attitudes and wouldn’t bother engaging their insufferable, screechy rageboxes. There’s this peculiar camp of “all RP must be honored even if it’s violent or abusive.” Nnnnnnnno it doesn’t.

Honestly the artifact unlock quests are good examples of it done in a better way. Wish they’d have continued it in BfA.

Hopefully one day they’ll return in unique ways outside getting a weapon.

I remember when the phenomenon of Asian gold farming bots was this huge controversial thing. My very first guild was an all-rogue guild half jokingly created to hunt and camp these bots.

I did a little of that in vanilla. It was always eerie to see them run back to their body and go right back to farming without showing any signs of acknowledging being killed repeatedly.

That makes me 'member watching this machinima where the protagonist needed to kill an ogre for a reagent to complete his nefarious plot but Chinese gold farmers kept killing the ogre before he could do it.

Can’t 'member the name of the video but in the end he used a wish to kill all gold farmers.

There was a night where I spent hours, HOURS stalking and pouncing them on my then mid-50s rogue out in Felwood. Specifically the pools with all the dormant Ancients. I got tired of being unable to farm essences because of nearby bots so I started getting stabby and eventually I just gave up and quit because they just… never moved on.

Accurate…

Sounds like “Associate Professor Evil Kills All Gold Farmers.”

I have a memory from around the first two weeks of the server opening. I had transferred over a level 8 troll priestess to go to something I saw on the forums. It was a meeting of various troll role players, mostly IC, that met on that ship sticking out of the Booty Bay at the time. It was decided that an organization needed to be founded to support troll interests, called the Atal’jinai. Somehow, I ended up GM of it and did that for like a year.

It was super cool to be on the role play forums and see people from other servers that I didn’t know telling other people looking for troll role play that they should go to WrA and check out this guild that I ran/sometimes just officered.

At the time there was also like, a couple other major Horde guilds like the Sundered Skull Clan and Shadowhaven, and they did a weekly meet up called the Horde Compact. I don’t think anything ever actually occurred as a result of those meetings and they were usually people dully reporting on what their guild was doing completely disconnected from everyone else present, but the fantasy of it was cool.

I don’t know what it says about me that this is what I remember the most but one of my strongest WrA memories is the forum drama of ol’, especially the whole ‘will raiding kill RP’ kerfuffle. It’s weird looking back at all that these days.

I remember watching Scions of Argus form in the Exodar inn.

Dear god, it’s been eight years.

RP killed raiding.

And PvP.
