Does anyone else suffer from anxiety over not having all BiS? How do you handle it?

Is this a real topic

This reminds me of heavyset people in the gym who get anxious thinking everyone is judging and laughing at them when everyone is actually secretly thinking good job keep it up

Nah not over a game.

That just sounds meaningless in my eyes.

Tell me do you believe if u have been shot at, blowin up, and whatever else in IRL, would a video game give you anxiety? Maybe an event similar but meh.

That was the first thought that came to my mind too, music and all!

Stop caring about gear and parses and just have fun.

This game is so easy that having the gear isn’t needed. Find a chill guild you can have fun. With an let the gear come. I’ve stopped rolling on upgrades because I don’t even really care anymore. But I still enjoy my 2hrs a week raiding.

I dont. But I do get tilted when I roll/bid for BiS and loose. Then get told by others that I am wearing the wrong gear or get asked why I wear x over y…I dont wear BiS cause it either never drops or I lose the bid ffs.

I am probably in the minority here, but I consider the BiS spreadsheets guides for what your DPS can get to in a perfect raid setting. If you are in that setting with a top guild, then you probably need to follow that pretty closely. If you aren’t in that situation though, you need to take more into account with your gear because you won’t be in a perfect condition to dps at all times.
.
For that reason, I tend to focus a bit more on hit gear for my dps than what the spreadsheets would suggest. This comes with a ton of runs and gear acquisition though to mix and match depending on situation. Ultimately, I want to sit at 16% hit or higher (which isn’t a hard number to get to). But I will swap out different pieces depending on what I am doing to reach that number.
.
Not sure that helps though. Mainly just saying there are multiple avenues to do good dps with your gear. And quite frankly, I think world buffs / rotation + skill usage timing make a bigger difference than most pieces of gear will make assuming you have a good baseline set to begin with.

Most people are just “run of the mill.” Some are good, some are bad.

Buffs > Gear. Get ony/nef buff. Get DM tribute buffs. Get Songflower. Use Mongoose elixir. Use Strength of Giants elixir (does str help rogues?). Use agi based food.

Usually your guild culture will determine how you feel. If everyone in your guild is min/maxing, you will feel compelled to do so. There are plenty of casual guilds out there that don’t min/max. Just don’t expect to clear as fast or parse high.

No, getting full BIS requires some good luck, my guild has only had one claw and one CTS drop off chromie, and alot of players are waiting on the last piece of BIS T2.

As long as know what your classes stat weights are and sim your gearsets you should be good.

Everyone knows gear affects DPS, no one expects a new pre-raid bis raider to outperform people fishing for the last 2 drops they need.

That’s why I bear tank, my Bis is picked from a tree and hand delivered to me on a silver platter with a bow tie on it. Im literally full feral tank Bwl Bis and I’m now 8/8 on my restro set and near full bis on that too.

It’s an easy trap to fall into, but you need to also consider that if you don’t have all the same exact group buffs, and gear and exactly the same talents and exactly the same everything then it’s not actually comparable in the first place.

Also it’s good to have a competitive atmosphere within your group, but the rogues in your team should also be Willing to help you improve because by doing so you also directly help their parse improve too.

Some things you can consider are the casts made, time on target, how soon you start attacking vs others, these all matter and I know it sounds crazy but just 1 or 2 sec off target is huge over a 45 to 55 sec battle.

Have a look at your guilds top guy and compare when he starts Combat vs you.

Look at how he’s using his abilities vs you. Look at the order of when he puts up say for example blade flurry vs AR, slice and so on, when he uses tea and renitaki.

Those little mundane things are what makes or breaks your parse vs the other rogues in your same group. I was very specific about group vs raid because if one guy has leader of the pack or true shot aura and you don’t, that’s a massive performance change.

You cannot compare the parse you make vs that of another rogue in a different raid team either for many of the same reasons because rogue parses are very dependent on the speed that a boss dies because of how AR and blade flurry and tea and renitaki all impact performance values.

Reroll as healer. Never worry about a DPS meter again. (I admit, I raided primarily as a healer in TBC and tank in early Wrath, and only raided on a lock and rogue as an alt fill-in during late TBC who wasn’t expected to put out big numbers.)

Never have, but I’m also not competitive with others. I want to constantly improve myself, but I use my own prior efforts as the bar. When I raided in TBC, I did it with guilds that wanted to have fun, and mostly had a class lead to help with things like talent selection, rotation and ability usage, timing, addons, etc.

A key point, to me, is controlling what I have control over. I don’t have control over what drops and who gets it. I do have control over my gear selection to this point, I do have control over what enchants I have, I do have control over my talent build, I do have control over what addons I use, I do have control over my rotation, etc.

First thing I’d recommend is looking at your performance in the gear you’re currently in to see where you could make improvements. Is your potential in your current state being realized? After all, no one is full-BiS without having first gone into many a raid in less than full-BiS. Every raid ever has been cleared by people with zero BiS. (And I’m not talking about the no-gear Ony. I’m talking about the fact you can’t have the gear until you’ve already killed the bosses to get the gear at least once.)

Second, BiS lists are sometimes based on the idea of having all of those pieces, and you won’t get them all at once. Are you in the best combination of gear with stats that benefit you most at the stage you’re in? Is there another piece you could get that isn’t BiS but would benefit you right now?

I have been mostly BiS for months now. The 4 total upgrades ( AQ not included since not open on my server yet) have yet to drop for me.

As a psychiatrist, I would recommend that you should distant your self from the game if any part of it gives you anxiety, is you really mean ANXIETY.
Get some perspective, realize it’s a game, and then get back to it.

I am also a psychiatrist and I’m telling you that impersonating a psychiatrist on an online video game forums doesn’t bode well for your mental health.

Well then, you should know that you should follow my advise.
(I’m not a psychiatrist and neither are you. It was a humorous way of saying something that is actually true :P)

Work on improving your gear. Other players earned it, you will have to too. Everyone has to start somewhere.

As an alcoholic, I would tell you to do whatever you want regardless of whom it affects or hurts.

Having BiS items is pretty much the one thing that you can’t control and that others can’t hold against you. Show up to raids, get buffs if possible, use pots and play to the best of your abilities is all that can be expected. If others of your class are outperforming you because of gear that’s fine, if it’s because of other reasons then just ask for advice.

As a real alcoholic, I would advise you not to impersonate our group.
We spend way too much money to have impersonators stealing all our glory.
