Do Zandalari paladins HAVE to worship Rezan?

This is a pure just story idea / rp whatever topic. The fact that blizz is all “the followers of rezan are the paladins” when he ends up dying. So where are they getting their powers? “Oh they still believe really hard and can somehow still use their powers”

Not buying it.

Could you say a paladin could be any follower of a loa really? Cuz I keep picturing in my head a zandalari paladin that follows Bwonsamd to help fight undead or something. Why can’t it be more like that lorewise?

I don’t believe so, because Hearthstone’s Troll Paladins worship Shirvallah.

I think Kimbul is also a good loa for Paladins.

Kimbul be fierce, Kimbul be quick.
His claws be sharp much like his wit.

Kimbul prowls, he will endure.
His focus locked, his footing sure.
Suffer fools - Kimbul does not,
His mind be strong, his temper hot.

Once ya earn dis loa’s trust,
His force be yours, his will be just.
He accepts only de best.
If ya got what it takes, be put to da test!

But Rezan is the Loa of Kings. It doesn’t get more Paladiny than that.

But he is dead, so I reckon his followers should look for alternate sources of power.

That is how I play this toon. Bwonsamdi is love, Bwonsamdi is life.

I really do think Kimbul is a great loa for Paladins.

Thus it was heard:
On one occasion the great loa addressed a group of his followers and spake thus:
‘Just as the jaguar stalks her prey for days at a time, even so the wise one acts with patience in all matters. The foolish are dragged through life by craving and emotion, but fools do not survive long in the jungle.
Just as the jungle bestows the gift of life, even so does it bestow the touch of death. Those with vision see that nature does not belong to them, but they to it. These are they who respect the natural order and take only what is required to live.’
Upon hearing these words, the followers of Eraka no Kimbul were filled with patience and respect.

Thus it was heard:
On one occasion the great loa addressed a group of his followers and spake thus:
‘Just as a tiger leaps across rock and chasm while engaged in the hunt, even so the courageous one wastes no time cowering in the face of fear. Act with courage in all matters and you will not lose sight of your prey.
Just as decay devours the blossoms of the jungle, age devours the strength of youth. The source of power is not strength, but an indomitable will that age cannot destroy.’
Upon hearing these words, the followers of Eraka no Kimbul were filled with courage and conviction.

Thus it was heard:
On one occasion the great loa addressed a group of his followers and spake thus:
‘Just as a king does not trade away his greatest treasure for a mere handful of dirt, even so the honorable one does not barter his integrity for wealth or fame. Live a life of honor, and it will be a life well-lived.
Just as canyons are carved by the constant flow of water, so too are all great deeds born of perseverance. Live with unyielding determination and failure will never defeat you.’
Upon hearing these words, the followers of Eraka no Kimbul were filled with virtue and dedication.

Jani is fun too. Paku grew on me. I kinda wish Gonk had more time because he’s kinda flat like Kimbul in BfA.

Don’t the Zandalari Loa typically have a bad habit of being eaten or systemacally replaced by their followers though?

Like i’m pretty sure Loque’Nalak’s goddess/wife/mother was originally made for a Snow leopard loa in WOTLK’s Zul’drak or something where she was bound by the trolls and uttered a line. “A adventurer, you could be my salvation, yet, you may still be my doom” when you approach. It turns out the Trolls have been enslaving her and corrupting her children for dark deeds and tied the goddess in chains to enslave them, if i haven’t had 10 years of foggy memories to go off of. Still loved those quests though.

I’m still bummed Vol’jin didn’t become the new loa of kings. Imagine going from Warchief to a freaking Loa. A loa powered by the horde. Dayum.

I imagine they are saving the conclusion of Vol’jin’s tale to the Troll Afterlife dungeon, “the other side”.

What I love about this dungeon’s name is that Trolls spent the whole of BfA calling the afterlife “the other side” just to set it up and nobody noticed it lol

I get the feeling blizz wants bwonsamdi dead so vol’jin can take over. Which SUCKS because I love BOTH characters so it’s like I win and lose at the same time if they do this

They should consult Lady Liadrin and abandon their old gods to belive in true light

So… are you saying that they have friends on the other side?

That was the Drakkari not the Zandalari. And the Drakkari were only doing it because they had fallen in with the Lich King and wanted the Loa’s power. The Zandalari were there to stop them doing it.

Nah the Zandalari of Classic and TBC and Zulgurub were busy trying to burn people with tiki masks over in Zul’grub and zul aman. But if they could share their powers, i’d happily take the werepanther and werebear and wereeagle loas as a allied race. In exchange, you’ll give us the vulpera and you can have Gilgoblins, fair deal?

Don’t the zandalari basically say the whole zul aman / zul gurub thing was Zul going off doing his own thing while the rest of zandalar just focused on rebuilding and going back to how things were?

It would be cool if Vol’jins spirit took over Bwonsamdi’s body? Corpse?

But like the two are constantly wrestling over who’s in control so we get spurts of the calm and collected Vol’jin with Bwonsamdi bursting through at times.

But I like Bwonsamdi :frowning:

I’d prefer bwonsamdi over vol’jin. He was the saving grace of BFA for me.

But it could mean that Bwonsamdi gets carried on to later expansions if he was tied to Vol’jin. I have a feeling he’ll have one minor part in Shadowlands and then forgotten about once the next expac comes.

I would love to see a Bwonsamdi worshiping Zandalari Paladin.

Also the spell visuals would be sick.

It fits since Bwonsamdi is not too big a fan of undead ( Unless they’re his temporary undead that he puts back to the other side when he’s done with them. Unlike Sylvanas )

A holy paladin for Bwon could just be “it not be your time yet”

Different trolls. We were helping the Zandalari to stop the Gurubashi in Zul’Gurub. As for the Amani, they were just being pests to the Blood Elves as they tried to rebuild their empire. Still not Zandalari though.

Zandalari is the heart of all troll tribes. All trolls are allowed to reside in the city and represent their tribes interests. The Zandalari themselves though, haven’t formally come out of their city besides to take notes and ensure any world altering events involving other troll tribes were being recorded and handled.

Zul’s plans were in MoP, he made a bargain with the Mogu to give them a “new empire” in exchange for aiding his coup attempt. After that failed, the Mogu came to Zuldazar to take the city for themselves. The Amani just hate the Elves and weren’t an actual threat to anyone else. The Gurubashi were summoning Hakkar, which is a blood god that wiped out the trolls of Nazmir with a blood curse and destroyed their lands in his death. The few survivors turned to madness and savagery… becoming the blood trolls we know today.

As for the actual topic though. I have no idea! I can’t imagine why another Devilsaur can’t rise up to Loa of Kings, though for now, the throne is bargained to Bwonsamdi. So I guess the paladin army is granted their power through Death instead of Light?
