Do You Want Layering Removed?

I honestly expected most of it to be gone by now. It was supposed to be for the massive flood of players pouring out of starting zones, but now you have exploiters cornering the market and people AoE grinding to 60 not even having to wait for repops. Get rid of it!

They should end layering now while the whole playerbase is spread out over the entire world.

Layering already ruined the game along with the fact they released far too few realms at launch. Blizzard is completely incompetent.

Layering has not affected me, I don’t care if it’s removed or left in indefinitely.

And here I thought the vast majority of people just play the game and have fun and do not try and control or care what everyone else does…

Didn’t Blizz already bow to the screaming chicken little’s and put cool downs on layer hoping? I assume this is just another wahhhhhhhhhh post in the long line of post from people here that come to complain about any and everything…

Did you run into that group of Alli that stopped you from questing?
No? cause you were in a different layer.

The game is already approaching near unplayability with layers. I’m posting here as I wait for mobs to respawn in a camp that has 10 other players farming the same mobs. If anything, there aren’t enough layers. Either that or a respawn rate hike.

I don’t like being on one of the lower population realms and still having to fight with a dozen people for quest npcs from another server.

People who are really nothing more than impatient aren’t the ones whose perspectives I’d take into account were I sitting at Blizzard HQ reading this.

It should be removed eventually, but not yet. Still way too many people competing for quests.

Huh? All the players and NPCs you see are on your server. There’s no cross-realm anything right now.

On PvP servers it’s abused ALL THE TIME to escape getting killed. I don’t think the new rules are going to be enough to prevent it from being abused still.

There needs to be a condition that if you are PvP flagged AT ALL then you are unable to manually layer hop, even when invited to a group.

I know it creates a lot of problems but trust me when you are about to kill someone and they kited you away for 10 seconds and you’re running to catch them again and they just DISAPPEAR it’s absolutely gamebreaking and it still happens all the time.

Granted it isn’t happening practically EVERY time like it was last week but it’s still happening on at least a quarter of all pvp encounters in the wild for me.

PvP flagged characters need something like a 5 min delay on layer hops.

This would not apply to any low levels who are in a “friendly” zone (basically anything under level 20) because the only way they are PvP flagged on a PvP server is if they manually flag themselves or get out of the first two zones.

Gee, it’s almost like he prefaced that plan by saying they expected a bunch of people to drop in to look and then not to stay. I wonder what would happen if a bunch of people instead dropped in, looked, and stayed.

I know! They’d keep to the original plan no matter what, so that you could have 200 different groups attempting to kill something that only spawns every five minutes! :roll_eyes:

Blizzard is not wrong. Layering cannot be used to spawn nodes or to fill your banks with more profession mats. The layers exist because there are enough people to support those extra “servers”. If you layered because someone was mining ore and you missed them all and in the new layer you got to grab them…you did nothing but take resources from the next person to come across that ore in that layer. You did not inject extra resources into the game, nor did you pad your bank with materials that you shouldn’t have had access to. You grabbed profession nodes that exist in a server on a respawn time intended to support the amount of players that exist there.

So if you think that everyone can just start “abusing” layering in this way to make a change, you are wrong.

Layering needs to be removed asap. And it has nothing to do with chests, rare spawns, AoE farming spots, or profession nodes. It has to do with world PvP. Layering kills world PvP almost as hard as flying mounts. Horde all up in your area? Layer away. Alliance came and killed the flight master in Grom Gol? Get on another layer and fly to booty bay no problem. The opposing faction has no reason to fight back or protect what’s theirs, they just go to another layer where there’s no contention.

I don’t think it’s realistic that most servers are going to have problems like this after the first couple months. If they keep layering PERMANENTLY for lowbie zones that are friendly anyways (elwynn forest, dun morogh, teldrassil, tirisfal, durotar, etc) and add a conditional flag that it ONLY applies to level appropriate characters then I don’t see a problem.

The problem is all the high level people need to be unable to layer hop to avoid getting pvp killed. Low level people are not even PvP flagged if they stay in their leveling zones.

No one is farming rares in the leveling zones, layer hopping needs to be removed immediately in all zones of higher level, or add a significant delay of 5min or greater before you hop and a cooldown of 30 minutes before you hop again. This would almost completely eliminate any farming issues and definitely eliminate any pvp avoidance issues.

Actually for every layer present you have additionally created a +1 of every resource node in the game so you’re completely wrong from that aspect.

I don’t necessarily have a problem with this for low level nodes though, a flood of copper on the market is fine, a flood of thorium on the market is NOT FINE.

But yes, the PvP aspect is why layering needs to be turned off today for PvP flagged characters.

Not two week of whiteboard meeting at Blizz HQ where they debate the merits/demerits of the system. It’s been a GAMEBREAKING EXPERIENCE since launch due to layer hopping abuse, it’s STILL a gamebreaking experience due to layer hopping abuse even with the cooldown.

It needs to be removed TODAY for pvp flagged folks, 5 min delay to hop and 30 minute cooldown between hops would be ok.
