Why audience disliked Midnight cinematic?

I don’t understand why audience disliked midnight cinematic, even though I’m someone who doesn’t like the direction of the trilogy at all, I thought it was decent cinematic.

I hated DF and TWW cinematics, both cinematics gave me the feeling that it was filler, but Midnight is ok.

I know the controversy about how Liadrin looks, I didn’t like her looks either, but I still don’t think it was enough to condemn midnight cinematic.

Whats wrong??? why midnight cinematic has 70% dislikes on IGN?

Because nothing happened. It was pointless fighting on a random balcony and some generic silhouetted NPCs showed up at the end.

I understand it could be a lot better, its not a 10/10, but its like a 7.5 or 8/10 ? its not terrible…

Liadrin’s face mostly. The rest of the cinematic shot about a par for me. Wasn’t terrible overall.

If someone writes; because people hate for the sake of hating, that an automatic ignore on their opinion lol.

There were lots of frustrated people, optics of waiting hours to see the cinematic… (poor advertising when the reveal was at first so some thought it was at 2pm est)… or w.e…

The glowing eyes controversy…

The overall look of liadrin and some characters that just was weird…

FOR ME; I found the look and animation of liadrin and lothemar to be weird and not natural to what WoW usually did. I disliked the disjointed feeling of it all… felt more like it was something they should have shown for the march on quel’danas or w.,e its called. It was just for me a very mediocre cinematic.

It wasn’t offensive by any means, but it didn’t do anything. It was similar to Vanilla-Wrath trailers in terms of not even attempting to focus on an event, but it also didn’t introduce anything new to the game. It was a villain we knew was the looming threat, quite literally looming and not even achieving anything. I’d give it a 5.

You might want to clarify your question, why did the forums not like the cinematic?

I really like the music, the moment were a paladin put his hand on her shoulder…
I was excited, but the fact that the paladins were slow and there weren’t any key character in this moment, it make a 10/10 cinematic become a 8/10 cinematic
I just don’t understand people complaining so severely about this.

forums and all midia, the rejection is not low in all places

Liadrin face was genuine and display dominant energy and not some Barbie energy.

She was designed to cater to the non woke crowd.

Because people have their own taste. People sometimes i see go ‘‘omg i dont get why someone hates the movie or tv series i love, i dont get it’’… simple, you don’t have to get it… has nothing to do with you… they have different tastes and you do as well.

Yeah I have complaints but overall I’d give it a 6 or 7/10 as far as WoW cinematics go. Much better than DF and TWW because it actually has action. Not nearly on a BfA level though.

Taking characters that are beautiful and ugging them up caters to the opposite crowd.

In summary,

  • Drop in visual quality compared to TWW.
  • Liadrin looks weird and behaves kind of weird too - what with that “mental breakdown” mumbling
  • Lor’themar looks too old.
  • Elf eye glow was too weak.

Overall it isn’t the most impressive.

Human head on an elf body and whats more in an expansion about elves. they need to stop humanicating elves spit and smack in the face to long time blood elf players.

I’ve read this several times and this makes my curiosity even worse, because Midnight was significantly better than TWW, which I consider one of the worst cinematics, maybe the worst.

Agreed.

It didnt feel like an expansion announcment. It wasnt exciting enough, powerful enough, or grand enough. Unless were talking the expansion of Liadrin’s brow bone and jawline. It did that just fine.

Gigachad customizations for Blood Elf females confirmed in Midnight.

Edit: I mean for body type 2’s. Don’t cancel me.

The pace at which she returns from the Sunwell, walking slowly with the paladins is what bothered me the most… so slow and nothing big to be impressed about

It looks like a RAID: Shadow Legends cinematic. Vastly reduced quality. Look at the texturing and detail on Anduin and Thrall in TWW cinematic (or BFA, or SL, or really any prior cinematic going back to about WOTLK/Cataclysm when the tech wasn’t as good) and then watch this. Probably the lowest quality cinematic they’ve ever released relative to the time period. They were almost always ahead of the curve on CGI, often with competitive movie quality graphics, not significantly behind it. They also had more artistic shots and framing in the past, aside from the reduced graphics quality. This was always one of the major selling points of Blizzard, the cool cinematics that no other company came close to.

Merely Blizzard’s try at a ‘‘rule of cool’’ that’s really it.

edit: What’s that tv show or something where it’s like these clay looking characters that are some kinda force or that fight together against bad guys… memory is so bad but it came to mind when i saw liadrin and lorthemar from a frontal view lol…
