Had to stare at the wording of the first one to be honest. But they mean ‘You’re not having to play outdated content when a new expansion comes out, if you are already at the maximum level’.
Although I understand the second comment I don’t agree with it. Levelling and experiencing end game content are two different things.
I don’t mind the scaling as it lets me level through any zone in a content era. If I could id level through all cata Azeroth zones to max level.
I’d prefer they just squish to 50, make the next expansion level to 60. Make all current expansions legacy content with achievements for completing and what not.
This gives them more opportunity to spread ability and talent gain at a better clip.
If there was more adversity and strategy, i feel like lvling would be fun, but especially in wrath and cata, they have nerfed exp to much. You hardly spend time in any of the zones.
You never die while lvling up unless you do it on purpose. Nothing in retail can kill you while lvling up in retail, so its like, your just grinding as much as you can, untill you get 120. I think it if had more value, and it was more difficult, it would be more interesting, and having more barriers and abilities to unlock among other things for progression.
In wrath of the lich king, i remember having to help people constantly for lvling quests, especially the class quests. Can you help me do my berserker stance quest chain on my warrior? Yes. You don’t really need to help anyone while lvling up anymore, unless your trying to run a friend through an instance or something. It never happens.
It doesnt take 3 years, even with all the stuff i mentioned to get to max lvl. Litteraly everything gives you exp now. Que up for an instance, do some pvp, do anything. Its pretty easy to get exp. Most of these options including heirlooms existed in wrath, except mining and herbalizm and those profession things giving exp. The world was just more threatening, but it wasn’t impossible.
I get bored with anything at max level, I get more fun from leveling then gearing a toon than sitting at max doing the same old same old.
I’ve always been like that, I guess that’s why I have… maybe 5 or 6 hunters, about 3 or 4 druids, and countless other toons. I have to delete toons now to make room for new ones.
kinda would like more leveling alts if I had flying from level 1 (or 20, AR)
and heirloons gave a bit more power, yeah they give extra XP, but until level scalling you basicaly trounced over mobs like a truck
I find leveling fun. Most do it for wrong reason. I do it for the journey and not the power. I love to explore and too see if i can find something new. So far i only found a few quest i have miss. Still i had fun.
The fact that you can be level 99 in Draenor, desperately struggling just to do basic questing content that was originally designed to be a faceroll for level 97 players because of the ridiculous scaling/squishing Ion did, then hit level 100 and go to Broken Isles and just start effortlessly killing demon hordes is just sloppy game design.
And they always have to just put a bandaid on it they never actually fix the root of the problem they just adjust the numbers, which never fixes bugs it just hides them.
HEY GUYS I GOT THIS GREAT IDEA LETS SQUISH OUR LEVELS TO 60
can’t wait to see how they break all the game systems with that one, and then they will announce the next squish a few months or a year after that…
I agree its incredibly boring. They are talking about a stat squish but I think they should also eliminate world scaling. They should also consolidate the content down to three expansions. Let the player pick the three . Eg: someone decides to start his adventure in MOP completes it all then goes to legion and then BFA. That way he can get the full story instead of leaving part way because he max leveled already
I can’t exactly pinpoint when leveling became boring for me- sometime around MoP I think.
The combination of scaling, ability pruning, and talent tree changes has made it so I don’t feel like I’m getting stronger with each level. My level 1 kills things at about the same pace as he will at level 70.
which, if some have their way, will get FAR worse, by turning retail into classic.
Retails CURRENT leveling to 120 is just about right.
Now that Ive said that Im sure they’ll do something to it to make it not ‘just about right’ again.
