New org. Old org could be burnt down with a torch.
Old orgrimmar is great. its like a real orc city, its basic and boring . but its strong
Current Orgrimmar feels more cold and thus less homey, and some of its paths almost make it feel like a prison even as if you’re going through extra security
I like new Org much better.
It makes me feel good when cities are updated, and hopeful that my favourite, Silvermoon, will get an update very soon.
I dont care for either version.
I liked old bank of Org and the more cartoony graphics, but the layout of new Org is far better
Old org was better by miles, despite its polygon-challenged nature. It had great ambience, especially at night, and felt like a place that someone could call home. In contrast, new org is cold, brutal, industro-militaristic and has -9000 charm.
There’s a reason why my Horde have hung out in TB since Cata hit.
Old org was much better in my opinion, it felt like the horde’s home whereas new org feels too industrial and looks like it was designed by a child that just figured out that adding some spikes can make something look cool but, with that said, the orc aesthetic has never really appealed to me.
Old Org was easier to navigate.
Both have pro ab cons. I think the mapping of the old orgrimmar was superior. But the new one has nice aesthetics. Like it feels more like a city then a town.
I think the modern aesthics would fit well in the hold one.
Worse part about the new one is the Warchief being right infront the gate. Makes no sense to me.
New Org and it’s not even close for me.
Imagine having to run outside Org to catch a zeppelin like simple peon, the nerve
There’s a video by FoldingIdeas on Youtube on WoW Classic that actually does a good job of discussing this sort of thing. It’s long but I highly recommend it.
He talks about the engineering of the moment when you run all the way from the Valley of Trials to Razor Hill, up that canyon, across the flats and then turn the corner into Orgrimmar and how well engineered that shot is. It’s open and impressively framed and says “seat of power of the savage and noble Horde.” It looks big.
The new Orgrimmar looks like Las Vegas. It’s crowded, claustrophobic, and there’s garbage everywhere. You can hardly even see where things are. People sitting on crazy mounts are everywhere. You don’t even know what Warchief you’ll see when you go into Grommash Hold.
The old Orgrimmar seemed designed to impress you and draw you into its world. The new one seems designed to impress you with how far everything’s come and how much STUFF there is now.
I took a break before Cata and then came back on a friend trial week visit. Seeing Orgrimmar made me quit again. It was Vegas, and that wasn’t my Horde.
Old Org no question.
First off Grommash hold was a true Fortress. Even though it was just two rooms it felt massive to me. Either way way bigger and more “throne room” like than the joke we have now.
2nd i much prefer the buildings being based off the wc3 horde building artstyle. I enjoyed the lighter color palette and it didnt feel like we were in mini-mordor.
3rd Old Org felt more populated. I’m not talking about number of players but about the random “useless” buildings. There were more buildings packed together which made it feel more like a city. Even if you couldnt enter some it helped add to the feel of the city. That’s one area i feel all horde cities lack is that none of them feel like they have any civilian dwellings.
I do like that new org has more architecture from some of the other races and i also like that we use the cliff top space.
Sadly I dont see us ever getting old org back though i do hold out a tiny hope that it might get another revamp with more of the modern horde architecture from Garrisons and Warfronts. It’s a nice inbetween the old wc3 artstyle and the garrosh era art style.
The only thing I miss about classic is the day/night cycle. And attunements.
I like old Org purely for nostalgic reasons
Old
Both are what I like to call, “Gazlowe’s Garbage Pile” but one has elevators required to reach the Flight Master and that’s not a whole bunch of fun to deal with
I prefer the old layout, but like the aesthetic of the current Orgrimmar more.
A modernized version of the old layout would be the best.
The ole one is better IMO.
current ogg for me old ogg is bland.
i actually get that feeling with a lot of the new models as well. i always feel like in trying to update the models, the models lost some charm and character. i think the crabs were the hardest hit recently.
