Do you change mains often?

kind of depends. i usually change “mains” at the start of the expansion last expansion i was a prot pally this expac im a blood dk. i usually prefer DK’s though so next expansion i may go play frost. but ive also considered druid too. i always note start of an expansion becasue thats when the world is the freshest. not having to play catch up with ILVL trying to change spec/class

Interesting question ! I started playing as Druid in 2005, but quickly re-focussed on Hunter.

For many years through four different servers in EU and US regions I always mained my BM Hunter, apart from a brief period in late BFA when I rediscovered my Feral Druid and that one pulled ahead as main focus for a while.

Then I left WoW for a few years to go play Summoner & Dancer in FF14

Returned to WoW, immediately mained as BM Hunter and joyfully so !

Sadly, recent fun-killing changes to the spec in 10.2 soured me on my Hunter and I’ve been spending most time on a man’ari eredar Demonology Warlock … a walk on the dark side!

That character has overtaken my hunter now by some margin, so technically …has Warlock become my main ? I don’t know. In any case, I’m enjoying a change of pace, although a slightly slower one.

Completely out of the blue recently, I have found myself levelling a Retribution Paladin and loving it as I didn’t realise it had ranged DPS aspects, almost as fun as my Dancer but without the fancy leaps and moves.

I still play my druid kitty now and again, still not max level but completely out-performs my un-barraged Hunter for smashing through legacy mob-crowds at speed.

So who knows … I still think of myself as a Hunter at heart, just taking a break to try out a few new things

My very first character was a druid in vanilla. I made it to level 34, swapped around classes and servers, and finally found a server and guild that worked for me. Leveled up a rogue, then a druid. That druid became the main. Played and raided on several classes with druid still as main.

Left. Came back. Leveled up that druid. Used the boost from buying dragons to boost another druid on a different server. Also have a brewmaster monk there. New druid is now the main. I may be druid obsessed tho…

No. I’ve had the same main since vanilla.

Thanks to Ian I no longer have any interest in having a main.
The last time I tried that crap they trashed the spec that I was playing like they do to a lot of people and so I’m not getting attached to anything again.
If I had picked a main it would probably have been beastmaster and yet again Ian has trashed beastmaster a few weeks back for no good reason just because he can.
So why on earth would I pick a main character or even a main spec only to have him trash it so that I’m irritated and end up parking it and possibly even quitting the game.

I’ll just play dozens of alts and not really give a rat’s rump about any of them thanks to him

I rotate between 3 or 4 classes, depending on the season.

I usually decide at the beginning of an expansion if it’s time for a change, but it usually isn’t.

All 4 of my past mains exist for very specific reasons. They usually coincide with a big life change. 2 of them are tied to new roommates I convinced to play the game, so I re-rolled to play with them.
