Meanwhile you have people sitting by themselves in Delves playing against AI or people playing by themselves who refuse to do anything with their guild, just collecting pets all day. I guess these people aren’t playing either?
People love to tell others what they are doing or not doing… it’s such an odd thing way to think, “if they do this or this, they aren’t really playing the game” like they somehow set any metric at all.
Your friend is right. PvP, not even actual PvP, is a tiny fragment of this game. While many people participate in it, they are also doing the campaign, dailies, Mythics, raiding, heroics, delves, farming, crafting, and every other non-pvp related function in the game. So if you are ONLY playing PvP, you are barely playing WoW on the tiniest of levels.
So then pet collectors are barely playing the game? Makes sense.
M+ loggers? Barely playing.
Mount farmers, also barely playing.

Yea, it’s just a weird thought process… like what in the world makes it “not REAL” , it’s so weird.
I do both. You can Google and look up any PvE fight. And then the addons even further tell you what to do for your PvE. *never get a PvP queue in retail at any level not max level anymore in retail WoW. Blizz ruined PvP for all the non max levels cuz they allowed max level players to go in and do PvP with the low level players. Like for Korracks Revenge ruined 2 years in a row cuz max level toons in full epics were going gin and smashing people who were trying to level in their alts there.
I do PvE and PvP. Mostly PvP in the Classics. This toon I quit playing. I have 2 level 60 paladins in Classic and a 60 druid and a 60 mage. Many do PvP. But doing PvP only is not good as you miss out on lots of neat stuff. So you should do both. And in original Wrath, my sham EU realms it had a trink on it. And it was a PvE trinket that you could only get from doing ICC and the only way I was able to do that was to get into the raid and pull my wait and they refused to allow me to keep running it in full PvP gear even though I did okay in it as ele resto. So… that was when I began to do more PvE as well. And on US realms, I have done mostly PvP on most of my toons here but do PvE to the side when I am able to.
I like PvP the most. There is a reason why PvP realms are almost always the most crowded in the game, why the only active realm in SoD is a PvP one, why 100% of all Classic vids being watched right now are the PvP vids.
PvE there is a max on how high you can do the raids. In PvP there is no max. You beat someone and then that person you beat then can beat you with no cap as to what is the top. Plus the dev team used to always name the PvP gear sets after the WoW seasons and never the PvE gear. And seasons were originally made for being a PvP only thing.
WoW needs to focus more on PvP, fact. Had 10x as many subs when it did. I just PvP in Classic now. PvP queues in retail if not max level never ever pop and at max level still take so long that I could do 5-10 matches in Cata for the wait period it takes me to do a single one in retail WoW.
So many PvPers buy tokens… maybe even more than PvErs do cuz you don’t get lots of gold by spamming PvP content so you need tokens if you stumble across a cool pet in the AH listed for 50k to 100K+ gold.
Minus those mounts obviously, since the average mount farmer obviously isn’t getting CE every single tier of every expansion, as well as Glad, derp.
Okay then they aren’t playing the game and suck then? Where are we even going with this premise is what I’m trying to get at here.

Hyperbole much? if that is all they are doing in the game then yes they are not actually playing the game. But I don’t think there’s a single Mount collector that doesn’t run other content. I don’t think there’s a single pet collector that doesn’t run other content. and even the mythic plus key runners are still doing dailies and crafting and occasionally some PVP for a break. Get real.
WoW PvP is desperately lacking compared to Marvel rivals or overwatch. in this game, you could be stun locked for three straight minutes while four people beat on you. No other PVP game has that level of weakness. You are either really good and always on the move or you are really dead. If they took stun locks out of this and forced people to actually stay on the go in a fight I might drag it back into the PVP category. But hey, that’s just my opinion and if it bothers some people, I really don’t care.
