That’s Blizzards problem if they can’t provide enough content. I run out of stuff to do day after reset. I’ll take 6 months of fun. Also, I can unsub and save money until everything is unlocked…probably smarter way to go.
There is just no way a company can create more content than you can consume.
So? Artificial gating is 100% a sub retention tactic. Having nothing to do mid-week is a problem. Having something to do for 6 months isn’t.
It really is, I love it, had a bad fall week one and didn’t lose out on missing a few days at all. Leveling alts is nice too when you are not feeling those FOMO feelings of trying to cap everything week one.
The people that complain about time-gating are the same people that complain about alt-unfriendliness, forced grinds, and elitest-raiders that outgear them.
When it’s full, you win the game.
Some gating does make sense. I mean, I may be ready and willing to do the work but that doesnt mean the customer is ready for me to do a job.
I kinda like the pace of the expansion so far.
But I can see players who want to play more thru the day wanting to be able to do it.
Guess farming old content could be a filler each day.
I seem to be missing your meaning here. You’re saying gating is good?
I accidentally clicked on the stupid transport one and wasted 1k anima. Remember to be careful when playing tired!
I love how many people didn’t read the post and are assuming I’m talking about renown. I’m not. I just wish they didn’t have a resource to gate when we already had a resource to gate.
I was hoping we’d get a bit more starting this week considering the costs for rank 2 things are higher.
This gating kind of makes sense to me though. The souls aren’t really connected to mandatory things as far as I can tell.
so what you suggest as a solution to bad design decisions is for players to play less? makes sense to me
You can’t read, I guess. Having nothing to do midweek is bad…that was in response to someone saying burning through 6 months of content would be bad…move on if you don’t get it.
You might cry about that, but a lot of us would prefer it. I’d rather have more time maxed out than play with tiny bits trickling in myself.
I think that was probably a good move tbh. I went with all rank 1’s as well, each offers something different. Transport system for Ardenweald is connected with a daily/separate reputation, I know.
I think just like everything else, time gating has 2 sides. That feeling of suspense or eager to find out what’s next is just not as strong when doing them later when everything is available.
I came back at the end of BFA to catch up on 8.3+. It just didn’t feel the same as when I was in Nazjatar and everyone was progressing sort of together. Sometimes, it almost felt like I was an “outsider” just because I wasn’t there when it was current.
Interesting. Idk if the bastion one is.
I skipped half of that dumpster fire, but somehow it made sense to me. Probably bc I didn’t have to wait months to finish things like the war campaign story.
So what you’re saying is casuals should suffer because you want to feel superior?
See, it sucks when people put words in your mouth.
so what you’re saying is that people should be held back because some play less and dont’ want to feel inferior? probably does suck.
and btw, i’m usuallly behind on content, has never bothered me in the least bit. not sure how someone progressing faster than me should matter to me at all. especially not to the point where i’d enjoy blocking content for other players just so they dont’ get ahead of me. i like to play at my own pace and work on parts of the game i enjoy. this time gating forces me to either not play or do content i dont’ enjoy just to have something to do. if i wanted busy work i’d certainly not be doing it in a game.
