Do we know why Yrel really flipped a switch?

Orcs reach full maturity at age twelve, whereas in RotH Durotan (I think) sees a Draenei child which is still a child from when he first met the Draenei as a young boy to when he invaded as an adult.

Mature, yes. I’m not contesting that. I’m talking about breeding, because both breeding and maturation were mentioned separately.

Not really contesting that they breed faster either, to be honest, more-so curious where it comes from.

I’m reminded of a quote from C.S. Lewis. " “Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

Perfect. Imagining a darth vader helmet with plastic draenei horns is making me giggle like a school girl.

I’m not sure if it’s been specifically mentioned in lore that orcs breed faster, but rate of breeding and speed of maturation are generally linked.

I was going off the maturation rate, more or less. Also the assumption that, as a long lived race, draenei don’t have children as often. I’ll admit the latter is based off kaldorei lore more than anything else, and might not necessarily apply to the draenei as a whole.

But the orcs do mature faster, Thrall was stated to be almost as large as a full grown human man by age six.

It’s story created for the intended purpose, to introduce the Mag’har player race. Since Blizzard intended no other use for Y’Rel or AU Draenor, there’s no mistake being made here. And again it puts in some more depth to the Alliance by having a villain Alliance character. Let the Alliance wear the Black Hat for a change even if it’s only such a minor Black Hat in a sequestered role.
