Do we even have atmospheric effects anymore?

I was playing Cata classic in the human starting zone and I noticed how there was this light fog in the air, tinted green from the trees. It really gave me that nice, cozy nostalgic feeling. I log onto Retail and go to the same area and it’s nowhere to be found. I’ve noticed retail, for some reason, doesn’t have the same effects that the older versions of the game has.

Do I need to turn my graphics down or something?

You’d have to post comparison screenshots for people to try and figure out what it could be, and might have better luck posting in general, or tech forums.
