SL is supposed to be very alt friendly. Perfect time for people to roll up a tank and eliminate the shortage.
I don’t tank to eliminate the shortage, I tank because i like being a tank, Not everyone is going to enjoy being a tank and not everyone will be able to deal with the constant pressure since it is the tank that leads in M+ not a raid leader.
PS: M+ is my primary form of content, I enjoy M+ as it stands now, I do not want the timer nor the %/mob count removed.
Of course, but then people shouldn’t be wanting for tanks to be removed from the game just because they don’t enjoy it.
It’s not that they don’t enjoy it. It’s because they think they don’t need us. oh dps mains, please change
what bread are you buttering? cuuuuz those doent look tanking…oh never mind…
ooops wrong alt
A fight like this might be neat. But just one.
Do not break the holy trinity, it’s not so pretty when the holy trinity is broken. I played GW2, I am fine with tanks remaining as is.
It’s honestly just an issue that can’t be fixed because, at the core, its a community/player issue that every MMO has. Tanking isn’t hard or anything, you just have to know more than a lot of players who can just wing a lot of things.
./golfclap…rofl…perhaps tank some more…
Because WoW isn’t an action MMO. It would also be too easy to avoid things then, it would be dark souls MMORPG.
i wouldn’t be so sure, we’re already farming great rifts for 4 years
I was a Prot Paladin main in Legion and up till 8.3, not sure what you are getting at. I have done my fair share of dungeons and before that I had tanked through multiple different expansions such as Bear in WotLK, DK in MoP, etc.
Fact, and I mean fact, of the matter is that the issues tanks have is with the community. No one wants to tank because of reasons that stem back to player’s/the community.
Tanking is high stress because you not only need to do the same job DPS do, including managing interrupts, but all the responsibilities of being a tank on top of that. You NEED to know the pathing, how much to pull, what not to pull, how the different affixes in M+ change pathing/how much or what you do pull or don’t pull. You need to be good at positioning quickly and effectively, which sounds easy but when you tank enough you are bound to run into those mobs that just don’t want to work with you and keep trying to move behind you. You need to know when and where to properly spread out/use your defensive’s. You need to have the absolute most spacial awareness not just for mobs and bosses as well as DPS who do not watch where they are going to the point it feels like herding cats at times but also keeping an eye on the healer and where they sit mana wise, constantly determining what their capacities are, where to slow down, where to speed up, etc.
All of this while dealing with a community that on one hand will tear a tank apart at the slightest mistakes/inconveniences then turn around and surprised pikachu face when there are no tanks around like its a big mystery why there are not more.
On top of that the system is built in a way that tanks are the least needed of the roles in the entire game. Dungeons only ever need one, Modern raids at most 2, PvP… eh… Fence is out on that one in a lot of regards and I don’t know enough about PvP to really comment on it.
So while there is much more room for Healers and DPS the tanks in things like Guilds often fill up fast.
Everything adds together to create the most stressful role in the MMO genre because you need to know more than the other players who can, often, wing situations and be fine. You have to do all the same things a DPS does on top of your own duties. The community will tear apart tanks for any reason (Too fast, too slow, not experienced enough) all while wondering why tanks are always lacking.
Problem is the community, always have been always will be.
Switching to a system without tanks either means everyone is a tank (pure, uncontrolled, chaos) or mechanics are all constant barrages of broadcast moves which sounds both hard to balance and tiresome.
and writing a book to explain…ooh ya…
Sure you can.
stop pugging.
Even if that happened, the most optimal composition would be one with a “dps” with high durability that can keep the enemies in position; that would be a tank.
Oh hey, you are a Human again I see
When did you race change back?
I swapped back the other day, my forum alt being a troll was driving me nuts.
Sometimes, I make poor financial decisions at 4 am.
Been there for sure ![]()
You are forgetting “When” depending on affixes you may or may not want to be chaining mob groups into the next one just as the previous one is dying, And knowing the range on bolstering so you can enter combat with multiple groups without the death of one buffing the other.
but yes, pretty much entirely this post.
