I don’t know about a literal connection but scuttlebutt is that Blizzard is planning to divest some of their properties. Some folks feel that the plan is complete monetization of wow like you see in “freemium” games.
Just people talking and we know how people love to talk, but this is actually logical and fits with the way corps work and how they can capitalize on a product like WOW at this point in its product life cycle

This is very true, but it feels kinda scummy when it is applied to a video-game/franchise. There’s alot of selling out that blizzard has done over the years and Classic was largely free of that outside of RMT purchases made outside the game like gold buying that are against terms and services, but something like Réstéd-XP Is not considered taboo regardless of the fact that you’re paying for a service to give you an edge in the ^ game that someone who did not pay would not have.
Again, by normal standards this wouldn’t be a problem and there isn’t exactly anything inherently wrong with making a guide and expecting people to pay you for your work but in this particular case it feels scummy because the context is an entire virutal world where people invest a lot of time and effort into.
