Serious question.
I bet they play warlocks… and Druids… probably monks too
They play Locks and Balance Druids.
They sure dont play hunters.
Oh they definitely play locks.
I think there was a time when ONE dev did and the qq from the community at large was that ALL the devs did cause mages were the true glass cannon damage doer.
THat’s why it amazes me that the dev team rarely listens to anything the players want cause all it took was “WAAAAAH MAGES ARE TOO OP” and all of a sudden they’re a dps class that hasn’t been better than mid (and sometimes sitting ON the bottom) for 2 expacs in a row.
TLDR: No. I don’t think any of them do now.
PS: If there IS one that plays a mage, he’s DEFINITELY not an arcane mage.
I wish I did a little more research when I came back. I was gone for 8+ years. Played a mage in vanilla, tbc, and wrath. When I came back I was excited to play a mage. Then I raided on it. Now I’m rerolling rogue.
Haha a couple of months ago when I was playing a lock everyone on the lock forums had the same thread.
Ghostcrawler used to, but he got canned cause everyone didn’t like him.
Balance druids will always be better ranged than ranged hunters mages and locks in pve and pvp even though they’re hybrids and that’s okay apparently. They just happen to get new forms and cosmetics almost every expansion, just a coincidence I guess.
Developers don’t play wow. This is known.
I did the same thing. Regretting it now also.
I would reroll, but RL issues are preventing me from devoting time to it, so I’m just going to suck it up and deal with it this tier and hope I can get a new class to 120 before the next tier.
Even if mages do end up being fine I’ve learned my lesson of only having one class at 120.
If you go back and look at all of the patch notes over the years, you’ll notice that mages have been nerfed in just about all of them. And we hardly EVER get anything GOOD added. Druids will have a list of 23 improvements in each spec, warlocks will have 19, DK’s will have a list, etc. Mages MIGHT have one or two things mentioned and if one is positive, the second will take away 83% of damage from another spell.
We kinda just get used to it, figure out how to get the damage back up, and keep going.
I think mages should reclaim Dalaran and kick every other class OUT. Then we might get some respect when people realize they can’t get around in the world too well without us.
Tom Chilton used to play a Frost Mage when he was Game Director.
I support that plan!
O dude I hear you. My problem is I love our rotation and the class fantasy so it’s hard for me to get into anything else. I’m thinking about switching to ESO because at least I can do everything I want on one character and there’s multiple shared skill lines between classes so SOMETHING has to be viable on my character.
Came back to mage in legion from BC. Only played a little cat in between.
This makes me want to unsub.
