DK mains, why did you choose DK

Just wanted to hear some stories from us DK players. I love the class fantasy. Acherus feels like home. Your surrounded by other DKs. What are you stories or thoughts

I always go for the necromancer class.

Also, it’s closest thing you can be to being part of the Scourge.

I have an affinity for plate wearing melee classes. Pretty much played nothing but my Warrior back then before i quit in Cata. So i thought id try a DK out when i started playing again during WoD. You know, a nice fresh start. It was love at first sight. So here i am now, maining a DK.

  • DK has the best class lore
  • Arthas is easily one of the coolest bad guys in the WoW universe
  • I like the whole “dark knight” feel
  • DK was the first tank I ever really tried playing and I really enjoy BDK tanking
  • Unholy is like a melee necromancer, necro was my first D2 character and I love the theme behind it.

Arthas is my favorite character.

Picked this guy up at WOTLK launch. I’ve played everything over the years. But i always come back to him. I can tank, plate wearing melee, and even do a little plate wearing warlock dot spam if i feel like being an a$$ and padding the epic bg damage meters. Outbreak, Tab, Outbreak, Tab, Outbreak, Tab, Outbreak.

i just started maining my dk this expansion… creating her at the start of prelaunch because my guild xfered servers. i’ve always loved the lore behind them, loved the necro type characters, and played my old dk alt as one of my top 3 favorites. the biggest reason i went unholy was because of the aoe dps… as an ex afl lock, we never had much in this category, and when they trashed drain soul, i was done.

Even though I’m not too hype about unholy’s current throughput and lack of utility, there is just something so satisfying with dropping army and apocalypse on my enemies. To truly feel like a master of the scourge and disease is an awesome thrill. Wish unholy blight was good again though. :frowning:

I played a Shadow Knight back in EverQuest so Death Knight is the closest to it. I started playing WoW with a Paladin, but played a human dk since Wrath. I mained that Paladin through mid-Legion before KJ taught me about the prot paladin’s active mitigation gaps, and susceptibility to white damage. I retired my Paladin, possibly permanently and started playing a Guardian Druid, BrM, & B DK. Guardian was boring was insanely tough; I could pull as many mobs in a dungeon as I wanted and survive it all. BrM was cool and even stronger than guardian druid, and, although i’m still on the fence about the class, I wanted something different. B DK felt like the perfect balance. Plate wearer that relies on strength, active mitigation that has fewer gaps and maintenance thereof makes sense, one of the best m+ tank classes, insane control in mob group fights, and IMO the most intimidating of all the tank classes (I literally have Horde run from me in wpvp & bgs!)

I knew I wanted to play a plate class without a heal spec.

I liked the idea of tanking with a 2h weapon. I was a swordmaster in Warhammer and that was my intro to tanking. The big reason why my warrior was my first toon to the level cap is because I was so busy learning the game that I didn’t want to have to learn a whole new class. I’ve always enjoyed both though.

Partway through MoP I realized that part of what I enjoyed about frost dk and fury warrior is that I liked that there was a choice between 2h and 1h weapons (same with ww monk at the time). Take away that and prune victory rush from fury, well, I took a break for most of Legion while speaking out against the Legion weapon restrictions when the opportunity presented itself.

Now fury warrior is the toon I have that’s mostly playable (no more increased dmg taken while enraged and victory rush was un-pruned, although the loss of SMF is still an issue) while frost dk is still hard for me to play because the aesthetic of using a 2h as frost is so important to me.

I always play the “Dark Knight” class but Death Knights need to be “darker” imo

I’m on a roleplay server. The actual 100% reason Rekfar is a DK is because of RP/Story reasons. He died a warrior, wasn’t done yet, got back up as a DK.

i fell in love with the class back in wrath, but wasnt able to play it until this expansion, so i bad a belf dk, ended up becoming a raider and am loving how good b dks are in dungeons and raids, and my dk still retained her personality, she will not hurt innocents or people close to her, but she has no problem laying the smackdown on the enemies of the horde.

3 Reasons

  1. Wanted to play a tank class
  2. DK is most in demand for M+ which means I would be getting into groups quickly
  3. lolbonestorm

even after the nerf bonestorm is still an awesome ability.

  1. To kill gnome mages
  2. Plate
  3. DKs are metal AF
