So I’ve been playing this game since inception and am very familiar with all the twists and turns DKs have taken.
Serious question- what on earth is this unholy rework? Are you truly listening to the player base?
We asked for utility, you remove abom limb. We have been asking for baseline gorefiends for ages. I’m not jumping on the bandwagon and arguing whether or not grip = utility or whatever but the fact is you removed something from our kit that gave us something niche and replaced it with nothing in return.
We asked for less button bloat. You added stuff.
We asked to remove D and D cleaving, it remains. Festering scythe is awesome. Festering strike is not. Frost is going in the right direction for aoe. Make festering scythe available perhaps after desecrate and instead of applying wounds maybe have it apply the remaining damage of all your diseases on the target, or have it open a “festering wound” on the target(s). Instead of popping the wound it’s just a debuff that… maybe makes your diseases guaranteed crits for 10 seconds. Just throwing random ideas out. But you get the gist. There’s so much you guys could do.
Also to continue going on about wounds… festermight. That provides us a lot of dps and I feel like this is a big part of why you’re hesitant to yank wounds. I feel like “when a minion is summoned, gain 1% strength for 20 seconds” or “when virulent plague deals damage while festering wound is applied, gain % strength” given festering is a debuff and not something you pop.
Wounds, minions, diseases… pick one. Most of us want wounds gone. The unholy tree is just so… silly. Like there’s stuff we SHOULD pick but isn’t accessible. Army hasn’t been viable in ages, so maybe get rid of it. I love the change to the extra minion. I would love to see dark transformation transform all minions and pets into stronger versions during the timeframe. Summon gargoyle could be made baseline and turned into a permanent pet option similar to locks who can choose different minions for different situations. Apocalypse could also temporarily summon the other minion that’s not summoned.
Please make the abomination move faster when a target moves far away. You made it faster but it’s still slow as hell.
Please explain the increase to crit dmg for minions and diseases because crit is one of our worst stats. You added value to a stat that isn’t sought after and also made it worse by making it a choice node.
Sanlayn in my opinion adds complexity to an already complex rotation design. You’re focusing on wounds, diseases, and runes then you add in more procs with vamp strike, and gift. Yes there are a small percent of players who enjoy the complexity but most of us do not.
Do NOT combine apoc and transformation. Just take trans off the GCD, that would already help immensely.
I have opinions on Frost but unlike Unholy it seems to have a decent direction but needs proper tuning.
Devs if you read this, scroll back up to my dark transformation/gargoyle idea. I can promise you a majority of the playerbase would be stoked with this.
