Divide the Alliance

YEAH NO
and if did, youd see even less (nothing) of msot races and characters now they dont have to use them since theyre part of the factions

That is more of an issue with the writers.

The faction system as it is. Is a major hindrance for the story to move forward, since ultimately neither side can truly win since doing so would punish the entire player base of that side.

And beside, only players are affected by the faction barrier. A barrier that only exists for us players and players only as seen with the plenty of both faction related and neutral characters of any race that mingle with either side.

Hell, us players are more likely members of more neutral factions than the horde/alliance related ones. With Legion giving us 12 neutral factions in total alone.

Idk it seems like they are fine with punishing the horde, given how we keep having to kill horde characters.

I was referring to Red Dawn, since Blizzard obviously has something planned for it.

Nevertheless, conflicts can arise. Furthermore, I would like to see more of the dwarven clans, instead of always just humans and alliance elves.

The Alliance has fractured and splintered before. In fact it was broken during the best game of the Warcraft franchise, WC3.

And nobody has to turn evil to see the Alliance fracture. Self interest can turn even longstanding relationships sour. Its not wrong to put the interests of your own people above another. Just look at what being in the Alliance has cost the Nelves. Why should they follow a Human any longer? Its not like they need to be a part of the Alliance to help deal with any world ending threats, they weren’t a part of it during WC3 (once again, best game in the franchise) and they still fought to beat back the Legion. They just didnt bow to a Human while doing it.

I personally would also like to see the Dwarves start aiming for the top spot in the Alliance. I’d like to see Kul Tiras flex its naval strength and try to jockey for the spot as well. I’d like to see the Draenei grow more weary and the Night Elves more bitter, both withdrawing more and more from the other powers except when the fate of the world is at stake. I’d like to see Stormwind deal with the fact it is starving and crippled and barely has a military standing while its nobles continue scheming and manipulating and threaten to tear the weakened kingdom apart.

And above all else I want to see this without a SINGLE GOD DAMN ā€˜AND THEY WERE TURNED EVIL BY CORRUPTION’ story beat. You don’t need to be evil to be self interested.

Exactly this yes.

Even if Red Dawn isn’t Stormwind organization, seeing as its members are exclusively human, the rest of Alliance would be more cold towards this race. Especially when news comes to light it was a HUMAN who released free one of the leaders for no reason, it should add some salt to the wound. I wouldn’t be surprised if the nobility of Stormwind are constantly funding Scarlets or Red Dawn. Gameplay need for mobs aside, but groups that big and organized need some support to constantly supply themselves. If this turns out to be true, the Crown of Stormwind would have a really big problem. How can you consider yourself a worthy leader of the entire alliance if you do not control your own subjects?

Heck, Scarlets see Genn as a potential short-term ally. He and Turalyon would be perfect heroes who, working with them in good faith, via. giving them too much power in the end it could bite them back. (just like Cersei gave too much power to the High Sparrow)

By the end of the Fourth War, Stormwind had lost all of its military infantry. Kul’Tirans seem to be stronger now. H/V elves are literally a handful of outcasts from Quel’thalas with no major political significance, especially after the destruction of Dalaran. During this time, the Dwarfs are still economic powerhouse, they arm entire Eastern Alliance, their lands are the safest in terms of neighborhood and rich in all of resources. They don’t have an internal turmoil. And their forces extend to the best defensive infantry, great tanks, gunships, artillery, griffin riders, warlocks and dark iron shamans. Increased political significance after their new build freindship with mechagnomes and Earthen. Humans and Elves look much less attractive at this point.

I love how 9/10 times when someone wants ā€œThe Alliance to have more internal conflictā€ it’s almost always someone who exclusively or primarily plays the Horde or sees the Horde as the most morally justified faction.

Well, they are people who turned their nose up at the Alliance, so they aren’t going to be fans. After BfA, when it was clear that ā€œNothing for the Hordeā€ was the plan, I dabbled with Alliance characters. But it was so ā€œblandā€.

I mean yeah but, I think resentment based story decisions is probably not a good design move.

Not sure what you are calling ā€œresentment based story decisionsā€. Doesn’t fit anything I referred to…

The harmony is on the Shamanic side, however the more rigid of the Naaru are a different story, they are not reciprocal in their respect when it comes to speakers of the elements.

That’s what I mean though — There HAS been lore where the Naaru are reciprocal in their respect when it came to the speakers of the elements, such as the Naaru in Oshu’gun: K’ure - Who quite literally became besties with them :joy:

  • That said as well, the Naaru A’dal was also one who was pretty open in their welcoming to those wanting to find refuge in Outland within the city of Shattrath - so long as they weren’t planning any funny business (unless prophesised to a greater purpose of cause, like M’ure – who knew they’d be kidnapped by the Blood Elves & what that fate would ultimately lead towards).
  • Additionally, it seems the character of Xe’ra was created to explore the idea that not all naaru are necessarily good from the player’s perspective, with naaru all having their own distinct personalities, desires, ambitions and goals (such as the aforementioned actions of A’dal, which opposed the desires of Xe’ra). While Xe’ra believed that she was indeed doing good, that good was not necessarily good for everyone — This also interestingly enough has been seen to apply towards the beings of the void too (eg. Dimensius VS Xal’atath)

The Naaru were ultimately reflected to all have their own distinct personality and goals – So it’d be cool to learn or reveal a faction of the light was more welcoming Shaman than say others may have been (which as per above, would be lore accurate too)

Look, we all know they can/will be able to sooner or later. This is all a gameplay issue. All classes of low hanging fruit(warlocks/rogues/priest) have become race agnostic. I expect the trend to continue.

Personally, I’m against the whole stupidly silly ā€œAll Races = All Classesā€ headcanon thing — However, that’s not to say I’m against MORE races to more classes

  • Undead druid? :x: No :face_vomiting: :-1:
  • Kul’Tiran Paladins? :white_check_mark: Yes! :+1:

There’s also some nuanced subjects of class-race combinations I’m willing to accept there’s such nuance amongst them, and have those discussed — and then those I think shouldn’t even be entertained. lol

  • For instance: Personally, I use to be vehemently against both Undead paladins and Void Elf paladins, but after lengthy discussions – I’m now … More open to Undead Paladins but still strictly against Void Elf Paladins :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So I actually agree with you to an extent, where some have become quite race agnostic, although I don’t expect nor believe it should continue to great distances … Mild though? Absolutely

The only race/class combos I’m against at this point are Demon Hunter on any non-elf race, Evoker for anything save Dracthyr and Death Knight on any post-Shadowlands class. Everything else is workable in some manner.

That said haranir warlock is immensely stupid without flavoring it as void-only with no fel.

I do expect it to continue. Not saying I think it should, I don’t. But I think it will.

I guess the silver lining of the animation/forms taking a lot of extra work means Undead druids are probably a long way off.

Yeah, I meant great distances @ the extent of people believing it’ll be the overall entirety.
I think it’ll continue too, just not ā€˜great’ distances.

Personally, I believe there’s race-class combos that are terrible & detrimental to both the class lore and the race lore fantasy – a minor few can argue that doesn’t matter, but at the end of the day this IS a RPG, that has the narratives established and told - play a major part in its direction & world building whether they like it or not.

That all said, I’m hoping for shaman to all races — especially with the Primalist lore :beers:

  • The ā€˜extra-work’ for totems could easily be put on hold by giving them the already-designed Primalist Totems as a placeholder + perhaps a shaman-questline to have for the races already established to earn such totems @ the barbershop

I’m against ALL race-class combos, but I’m certainly down for (and expecting) more.

I am too. IMO, it dilutes racial identity.

But I also don’t spit into the wind.

Like I said, I’m open to more — Just not all

Despite a few toxic people narcissistically twisting words to the point of an outright lie — Blizzard said they’d be open to more combinations, but they certainly did NOT say all.
