religiously if I see a second hunter in there they dont dismiss and yeah…half the dungeon comes calling about 30 seconds later lol

Better than some tanks that like to round up the whole roomful of mobs.
I used to dread playing with Hunters through The Nexus dungeon. That shortcut before the 3rd boss would always result in a mass pull.

It sort of was for warlocks for a while, our imps could phase and not get aggro when not in combat, but pvp fun detected so it was nerfed.
I only ever really got in trouble with Barrage back in WoD. My god, the range and angle of that cone… XD
I always knew to dismiss before jumping. But I do think it’s funny how the WoW cultural joke is that Hunters are dumb. I don’t get mad - it’s just kind of a meme at this point and I don’t take it personally, but it’s always fun to surprise people when we actually play well.
Had a group the other day where the tank died, and I MD’d onto my pet and activated defensive CDs until the healer could rez him. Was just a trash pack, but still. And the tank goes, “Wait, did a Hunter use pet taunt CORRECTLY?” I Lol’d.

To be fair… it was one of my guildies. LOL
Barrage is actually really useful with mobs if you are very careful with it.
Ive used it a lot lately and so far not only not caused any extra pulls but tanks have actually seemed to enjoy it being used to help mow down bigger mobs.
Even using it in the strathholme runs which i figured would pull so much it’d cause a wipe, but once I got used to the cone and range its not actually too bad.
Sucks because I know a jump is coming so I have to stop fighting before the mobs down entirely so I can account for that damned dismiss cast time. Works out, I guess.
honestly I can see where it comes from. Sooo many hunters seem to not even have /petfollow keybound and so their pets are more likely to go roaming.
After EVERY fight I fire off this macro…

pretty obvious what it does. Since i started doing that Ive never had a pet problem since…well, until that blasted Fenryr started running off pulling crap. lol.
My two hunter pets come right back to me when I fire the macro…but Fenryr…lmao…Ive watched half a dozen times…twice in one dungeon…where he runs over into side mobs and pulls them while my pets are right by my side.
I get that invite into another run all the time on hunter. Last time I had a tank complain was years ago and that was on MM…and I never had a pet out in the first place, lol…moron tank had overpulled and needed a patsy to blame. lol
oh yeah…I have growl keybound too. A lot of wipes saved firing it off getting the crap onto my expendable pet and off the tank who is about to die because the healer is really struggling.
Its really cool getting a whisper from a healer after a run thanking you for getting the heat onto your pet just long enough for him to get some health bars up.
Beastmaster is such a great spec if played right and pets are kept on a short leash.

Can’t you just… click it a second time if it’s far enough away and have it port right to you?
You can’t dismiss a WW monk. They are now classed as a pet due to dps output.

I think they brought it back to demonise hunters.
Reason being is that in any other situation, my pet goes 100 yards from me and it despawns. Yes in instances. Yes when it has aggro, and yes this resets the mob if I do not have aggro on it (except in instances).
Had this happen to a party I was with doingg Dire Maul. There are a couple of spots where you jump down and the hunter neglected to dismiss their pet, which promptly ran down and pulled every mob between it and us.
Its an unfortunate lack of understanding.
Happened to me in Dire Maul, we killed final boss only for 20 mobs to show up targeting our poor hunter, good times. Small independent company can’t test stuff like this, and this indeed was otherwise fixed a decade and some ago.
