I love disintegrate design though. Just needs a few tweaks for PvP.
I think rebalancing Engulfing Blaze / Ruby Embers to remove the increased cast time would make a big difference in terms of the flow. Living Flame is far too long of a cast atm.
Ya, but you don’t need to change Engulfing Blaze, specially when it plays into burnout.
If anything the other talent should do the opposite and reduce damage and a lower cast time. ![]()
Make disintegrate do more damage when the target is under % health. Much like Echo’s beam in overwatch. It should be used as a finisher and the enemy team should be panicked when it is used.
That would contradict our mastery, though.
Hot takes
Living Flame should be removed and put all the damage bonuses into pyre and make it function on a charge system instead of an essence cost.
Catalyze should proc an extra tick when hit with Azure Strike.
Disintegrate should cost no essence and function on a CD.
the Essence system should be refocused onto the empowered spells and make them deal additional damage based on essence consumed.
Shattering Star should explode if used on a target with the FB dot for additional damage.
First change would nearly completely destroy evoker aoe. Outside of empowered spells and deep breath, all we do is azure and pyre spam lol. Leaping flames would need to be changed to, if living flame was gone. So would burnout and a ton of other talents.
Catalyze improvements would be nice.
Disint would need to have a pretty huge dmg buff for it to be on a cd.
I agree I wish essence played into more things, hell I wish our mastery played more into essence and essence bursts.
Shattering star exploding would be cool.
Honestly, I want ruby embers buffed lol. I want fire breath dot to have some dispel protection, and possibly have its dot dmg increased.
Really, I compare Pres and Dev tree’s and it just makes me wish Dev had as much work put into it. Pres has so much stuff and a lot of options. Just makes me sad Dev tree is so, lackluster. And we still have quite a few dead talents.

When I said damage bonuses I meant everything that would affect LF to be put into Pyre instead (though I should have clarified it first)
Leaping Flames to affect Pyre instead
Essence Burst still affecting Pyre and triggering from Pyre
Burnout affecting Pyre.
Your AoE rotation may be 111111111 but at least your ST rotation would be 12311211211

I think though devastation almost needs an overhaul. Their talent tree sure does anyways. Which sadly Idk if we will get. But who knows, druid is getting a ton of talent changes (for better or worse). So remaining hopeful. Something definitely needs to be done though.
I’ll admit I dropped my evoker a week after getting to 70, but I forgot about your first point. You’re spot on there. Even in pve you often have to interrupt it because you have to move and so you deplete those 3 orbs for nothing.
The talent tree needs a lot of work to be competitive with other classes and specs, and I think most issues can be addressed there.
It would also be nice to see some CD reduction from haste and be generally less pigeonholed into mastery.
maybe a refund of resources lost when your channel gets kicked? i imagine it is pretty crappy to have to spend half of your resources to only get it constantly kicked.
This is why casters with more instant damage typically excel in PvP.
Something like this might help:
Arcane Feedback (Honor Talent): When you are interrupted while channeling Disintegrate, you release a swell of stored magical power, firing an Eternity Surge at your target.
Most casters can’t be so easily countered on their spender. The only one I can think of is Chaos Bolt, which doesn’t consume resources when stopped.
Honestly, given things right now, devoker needs a 30% damage buff in PvP.
It might not be able to setup or survive, but at least you could threathen to randomly delete people.
Right now its worst damage than everyone with no CC and almost melee range.
Its significantly undertuned.
This is really frustrating design for opponents. While it might serve as a bandaid fix for making the class more viable, I’d much prefer to see actual design upgrades.
Random deletions are never fun in PvP.
We can deal damage. But securing a kill, especially outside dragon rage can be challenging. And is partly because of our kit, and party because of how our mastery works, and just feeling weaker the lower someone is. Living flame can deal decent dmg, but you do require burnout procs. And a lot of people are getting wiser (more so in arena) and dispelling our fire breath dot. So we are kind of left with disint, and when scint doesn’t proc, disint honestly just tickles.
Our burst is good, sustain still kinda 100% trash. Even building for high haste and taking iridescence for some mini goes. Our sustain is just bad.
Youre both right, but thats my point, with current design, thats what devoker needs to be good.
Blizzard would need to overhaul the whole spec and we all know that aint happenin until 11.0
This spec will either be the new arcane mage from the past 3 expansions or receive some hefty dmg buffs to compensate.
I’ve replaced some mastery with haste to help combat the downside of the mastery and it feels pretty good so far.
There’s a bit less oomph on the burst, but it typically nets defensives anyway, and my sustained damage feels significantly more lethal.
It would be great if we got CDR from haste on our empowered abilities or something to incentivizes a stat besides mastery.
