Thank you but I reported one of the worst before and all I got was “put on ignore”.

This dude was scary. Scary. It takes a lot for me to be scared. And all I get is, “ignore him”. I can’t when he has several accounts

You put them on ignore and do not engage with them in any way. No response or reaction at all. When they circumvent the ignore, then you report them for ongoing harassment.

That could be true.

Let me clarify, I’ve know several ppl with multiple accounts. The one I am thinking about/harping on is vial and disturbing and obviously, can’t put their name(s) here.

And they’re living in your head rent-free, which is exactly what they want. Ignore, report, move on, or they win.

I don’t recommend that. You get engaged, Blizzard will just look at it as players bickering. There are specific steps to take when dealing with harassment and if not followed, Blizzard will just assume it’s nothing to really care about except for gamers being gamers.

They are doing this through multiple accounts and mass reporting and its so disgusting to see that this is not picked up on.

Keep in mind that people can get sanctioned for it. We’ve known multiple people around here that have. Problem is that it takes them too long to sanction it. And those vacations aren’t permanent.

Flagging one account of someone who has literally tens of accounts won’t be effective if they have other accounts they can switch to.

That’s against the rules, as well, and will get those accounts permanently banned. Though, again, it takes time for it to be found.

With that in mind, I’ve had my own issues with harassment and Blizzard does nothing about it. I’ve known people who have had such issues with harassment here that’s followed them into the game and still Blizz does nothing about it.

They make it extremely difficult to report harassment and when you do, they just dismiss it with “use ignore and report.” Which rarely works.

Ironic after everything this company has been through, you’d think harassment reports would be taken more seriously.

Second, I agree with you 100%. Unfortunately, these forums have been a cesspool of poor behavior for a very long time. Years ago, there was a player with an abbreviated homophobic slur in their tagline. I reported it multiple times but it was allowed to pass; I don’t think that would be the case today (so it does get better). But now the problem is just more insidious: the hate has become more nuanced and directed towards people who don’t adhere to specific worldviews surrounding the game itself.

Honestly, the solution to this would be to limit the number of forum posts people can make per day and set a limit on replies. I hate that solution, but I think it would serve to isolate the toxicity of the community and discourage the people who use these forums to troll other players.

You see this is exactly the problem , some stuff that might feel offensive to XYZ are not punished and some which are totally not offensive gets punished .

I get it , it depends on person to person what is considered offensive and what is not.

So in short it should read what “Blizzard” considers is safe and fun for the forums

And it takes them forever to do anything about it— if they do anything at all. I know at least one person here who has never been sanctioned for posting on multiple accounts and another that took literal months before their second account was banned permanently. They’re still posting on their main account.

The bottom line is that we want the Blizzard Forums to be a fun and safe environment for all players.

That is taken from the code of conduct. I am not sure how the forums can remain a fun and safe place when there are a few people on the forums who constantly gang up and attack other players for merly voicing am opinion on something. They are doing this through multiple accounts and mass reporting and its so disgusting to see that this is not picked up on.

The way some people use the code of conduct to stifle the voice of other players is flat put repugnant. Everyday I see this same behavior from multiple sources focused on raking down any topic they don’t agree with and to harass another player just to try to flex their own control.

As much as I disagree with censorship, this is true! I know I voice alot of Conservative opinions and I get flamed on pretty bad. And YES I know politics are against ToS so don’t start.

You may report things that are harmful or violate the code of conduct. I however have seen posts reported purely to try to get that player banned from the forums.

. They also need a block feature on these forums so you can block them so it then becomes an account wide block instead of just ignoring a certain character which they can easily get around as you mentioned.

The forum software, by default, has the Trust levels and posting access at the Bnet account level. It works that way for all the other Blizzard forums. Only WoW has the Trust levels, Ignore, etc at the Character level and it leads to abuse. One Bnet account can have 8 WoW licenses and hundreds of chars.

they also need to have the block feature override hidden profiles. as is hidden profiles CANNOT be ignored with a simple command.

We can’t use the fast link to block them, but we can block them in our own Ignore list by adding them as Charname-server.

The rest of this - I think some of it would be better if report was at the Bnet level - and everything else too. However annoying it is though, all a player can do right now is make a post grey until a Mod comes alone. Mods remove a lot of those false flags and un-hide the post. People who use multiple accounts to report do get suspensions. Someone tried it on me on the CS forums for a really dry and boring instructional post. I accidentally got the suspension when the mod hit the wrong button, but it got fixed and they got a vacation.

Problem is that the Moderation is not consistent. One day we have very active mods handling reports. Another day a threads can go for hours with really vile things in it.

It is a lot like speeding enforcement. You know that you CAN get a ticket/penalty, but it depends on you getting caught.

I wish it was a lot more consistent than it currently is, across the forums. We don’t have a mod team per forum, they handle reports for every Blizz forum all together.
