Disgusted rant

To hell with the people that need to beast on others , keep your chin up and just remember just how stupid and ignorant they really are.

Well what I imagine is happening there is you have said something that makes the forums feel like an unfun and unsafe environment for a lot of people. And they are reacting to that. People don’t just report any random thing they disagree with. They report things that are offensive or harmful. You don’t have unlimited ability to flag posts.

Not if that voice is saying horrible things. That’s the code of conduct serving its purpose.

You may report things that are harmful or violate the code of conduct. I however have seen posts reported purely to try to get that player banned from the forums.

Welcome to the Internet.

If you don’t have thick skin, I suggest you stay away from it TBH.

I’ve had this happen as well. It’s ridiculous what they WILL ban for, and then NOT ban for something that SHOULD be deemed a worse offense.

It’s actually kind of laughable lol.

I understand having thick skin, and honestly I do have thick skin. What sickens me though is just how comfortable we as a society have become with allowing filth like this to continue and we just blow it off as that person just needs thick skin.

Why do we even tolerate people who harass and bully other people. Responses such as this one are just another example of how much our society continues to slide into the abyss.

What they need is to have posts appear from your battle net account instead of wow characters. They also need a block feature on these forums so you can block them so it then becomes an account wide block instead of just ignoring a certain character which they can easily get around as you mentioned.

They do this for other game forums - Overwatch is one example but these forums lack a block feature which they really need.

they also need to have the block feature override hidden profiles. as is hidden profiles CANNOT be ignored with a simple command. which allows trolls with multiple alt characters in their names to easily troll the forums.

I think this is an awesome idea.

Once again, I need to take heart to what a cute gnome said… DON’T LOOK AT PPL’S POST WHO YOU HAVE IGNORED.

Yes I agree don’t look at their posts when you have ignored them. However there is a work around that people use. If say player a is on ignore they then switch to a different account of player b; then quote player a in a reply it will not hide the quote. They use this work around to keep bullying people.

Wish someone would “bully” me, these forums have been boring lately.

You had your fun in the LGBT mega thread

Can you see?

The forum software, by default, has the Trust levels and posting access at the Bnet account level. It works that way for all the other Blizzard forums. Only WoW has the Trust levels, Ignore, etc at the Character level and it leads to abuse. One Bnet account can have 8 WoW licenses and hundreds of chars.

We can’t use the fast link to block them, but we can block them in our own Ignore list by adding them as Charname-server.

The rest of this - I think some of it would be better if report was at the Bnet level - and everything else too. However annoying it is though, all a player can do right now is make a post grey until a Mod comes alone. Mods remove a lot of those false flags and un-hide the post. People who use multiple accounts to report do get suspensions. Someone tried it on me on the CS forums for a really dry and boring instructional post. I accidentally got the suspension when the mod hit the wrong button, but it got fixed and they got a vacation.

Problem is that the Moderation is not consistent. One day we have very active mods handling reports. Another day a threads can go for hours with really vile things in it.

It is a lot like speeding enforcement. You know that you CAN get a ticket/penalty, but it depends on you getting caught.

I wish it was a lot more consistent than it currently is, across the forums. We don’t have a mod team per forum, they handle reports for every Blizz forum all together.

Thats why I suggested posts to appear from battlnet accounts not characters as they are much easier to create and abuse.

Trust me, this feedback has been given to Blizz by the barrel full from lots of us over the years. (Us being the MVP team I am still part of).

I think Blizz made the forum software modifications for WoW for the right reasons - they wanted to preserve the RP and character building aspect of the game, and forum experience. However, that has turned out to be an issue.

I propose they tie Trust, reporting, likes, etc to Btag and that we post with our Btags - with the Avatar being a selected char and the char name showing. Best of both worlds.

This means getting those in charge to spend money having Discourse reverse the special changes they made that allowed everything to be char level. They have to admit maybe it was not such a great idea/experiment.

I think that is a fabulous idea and I hope it is implemented.

Each of my character brings out a different personality of me in this forums

Everything that happens here is permitted by Blizzard. If you see it and it isn’t taken down, Blizzard is fine with it. Believe that. Words are pixels and air. Actions are true.

We are what we tolerate.
