The ones who can’t pull the numbers their gear indicates they should and who contribute to killing keys are definitely ruining my experience, yes.
Not everybody who gets gear quickly is automatically bad, mind you. But making it even harder to tell if a player who suited for a particular type or level of content is not the way to make the solo content/gearing track attractive.
