As if you have a choice, dps is easy to replace and I’ve been in more than one group that has kicked for rogues doing this. Makes me glad I dont lead as often and have to deal with all the drama it entails.
Hope you are equally willing to accept that selfish point of view next time you need a healthstone from a lock or some bread from a mage.
You should rename yourself to Britta, you’re the worst.
hey you can deny giving profession nodes that i roll for and i can do the same with lock picking
And you’ll understand that when you pull this kind of king of the hill nonsense you get removed from group right?
its not nonsense, let me roll for everything or i open the locked stuff. kicking me isnt a big deal i dont want to run with people that think they are entitled to locked stuf but dont want to share what they gather
Imagine thinking the other 4 people who helped you get to that chest are the entitled ones.
For those reading this and thinking “welp I’ll just never invite another rogue again”, I don’t blame you, but please know we’re not all selfish pricks like OP and Luckyfukstick up there. Some of us have common sense and are willing to work with other people for the good of the group.
hold on…
Ive never had anyone offer me ore or herbs from nodes in a dungeon…
so… if its selfish to keep what you get from a leveled profession rogues are like the magnanimous Christlike class of wow…
Well see there’s the thing… lockpicking really isn’t a profession. It’s a class skill, more analogous to healthstones or mage food than mining. It takes a fraction of the time to level, and by that I mean like 5-10% of the time, and it doesn’t take up a profession slot.
I disagree… leveling lockpicking takes just as much time at leveling mining or herb.
also… how is it not a profession?
I see a lot of locksmiths in the phone book…
never seen an herbalist in it ( well unless its a colorado phone book)
Your ignorance is showing bud.
Speaking as someone who actually has done it, no it doesn’t. Not even remotely close.
LOL wut… are you actually bringing in real life comparisons now.
Blacksmithing also isnt a profession you’ll find in a phone book… because we’re not in the middle ages. Bet you won’t find many alchemists listed either, guess they’re not professions right?
lock picking is really unique, i compare it more to gathering professions than health stones.
people can see it differently, but when its your skill ultimately you decide how to use it
oh you mean this someone whos doing it? cause time per point of level is the same as tapping a mining node or herb… actually its MORE difficult in finding footlockers and such for that one point. ( unless you ONLY mine underwater)
It really doesn’t. You can easily just camp out in the ship near ratchet for half an hour to get it leveled up to max for your level and then as long as you’re in a zone with humanoids you can just open junk boxes you get from picking pockets to keep it current with a side benefit of getting poisons, potions, gems and even purples.
max… for your level… half hour… each level allows 5 points… add that up right fast and tell me again how that is easier than mining.
If it’s taking you as long to level lockpicking as a real profession… then you’re simply bad at it. I suppose if you are just a potato and make it super inefficient then maybe it could take as long… but why would we use that as the baseline?
If you are actually competent at your class, and using pickpocket and opening up boxes you get from that, you don’t even have to go find lockboxes anywhere. Since that first boat, which was super fast, I have literally not had to go farm lockpicking once. It’s always been maxed out for my level.
so level it yourself and use it how you see fit
there is not going to be a forum consensus dictating how everyone else does it though
It’s not any harder then leveling up any of your weapon proficiencies since you have access to a plethora of junk boxes from picking pockets.
So long as you are prepared to be blacklisted, ignored, by a lot of people go for it. Decisions always have consequences
black listing is a myth of the forums. doesnt happen over locked chests in reality. servers have 10s of thousands now
I have leveled locksmithing in the past. it was trivial while still being more fun and engaging then say… fishing.
