OMFG YESSS!!! I was so excited for the mana talents in the main talent tree. Then when having mind bender, was gonna be great. But not so much any more
Just wanted to sneak this in here before I go, since the Clark thread was unlisted and Disc Priest used to be a main for me at one point.
Cata Disc was the best iteration of Disc. Divine Aegis bubbles off of crits from PoH, no buff to upkeep for Atonement because it was completely passive, Smite spam with smart heals, PWS the begeezus out of everyone… it was the perfect mix of DPS healing and spell cast healing. I loved it.
I wish I knew old disc. Only been playing since 2020, and been playing disc for a year. But sounds like it used to be a lot more fluid in rotation and feel
It was good when it was a massive shield spec.
I mained Disc until SOTFO. Then I got forced into Holy. I will say, not maining Priest in DF. Not worth the risk of Disc being bad.
Honestly I will always miss MoP Disc the most, WoD wasn’t too terrible. But after the whole attonement change and stuff it just isn’t the same.
Yup defintely miss Cata disc. I used to heal as disc since wotk. Not a fan of upkeeping atonement with other healing spells. But most of the spec is still there in some form.
Vestal is actually fun to play though
I could be wrong - but didn’t disc used to be a DPS spec? Maybe my memory is hazy - but I think I can remember a DPS symbol next to the spec.
in exercise gear telling you to eat right
Be a real G and go cudgel vestal in front ranks
Personally, I haven’t felt this way even in the beta because I always use help/harm macros. However, I wouldn’t argue against losing some buttons and balancing around that The amount of rotational buttons are fine but there are too many cooldowns imo.
I dunno when you started playing discipline priest, but the spec was basically built to mitigate damage rather than heal. That has always been it’s identity, typically blizz messes it up rather badly and makes it clunky. But in disc you’re aiming to buff out your party members with atonement and sheilds, then every damage spell you do would build on that shield or give out a small heal if necessary. Holy was supposed to be the spec to rip big heals and rarely do damage.
Disc was supposed to be the battle priest. I’m fairly optimistic about the talent tree build. There’s some weird pathing, but the way it feels in PTR is making it seem like days of old when you’d cast Radiance and then smitesmitesmitepenancesmite your way to victory.
I just wish Atonement was a flat aura that you could beef up through other spell casts. Say a baseline 10% (boosted by mastery) of your outgoing damage is converted to healing on up to 10 raid members. CDs like Evangelism, Spirit Shell, or Rapture could increase the amount of healing it does for some time frame to some number of players (Eva - whole raid, Rapture - Folks with weakened soul, Spirit Shell - one specific target)
But that’s just a personal thing; I don’t like having to manage the buff on people. That’s not fun for me - but I do like healing through damage.
While it’s true for every spec in the game that there are significant changes made to playstyle when done in PvP vs. PvE, Disc certainly should be in the running for the top spot in that department.
It feels wildly different in gameplay in PvP compared to PvE for me. (PvP has always felt like the gameplay where it seemed really fleshed out well, while PvE feels like an area where it’s constantly just kind of off-kilter one way or another).
I’m terrible at pvp and hardly do it, but boy is disc fun and am I a powerhouse to take down . I can have 6 guys on my trying to take me down and keep myself up. Yeah, I die eventually, but it’s fun watching them try and fail for a bit. So yes, I agree 100% that it feels much more tuned for pvp and pve is a struggle.
I think the fact ppl will literally kick you from a group for being disc, tells you maybe it needs some pve help
the one that uses shields and messes with other healers’ numbers
are they popular this season? i didnt see many of them in m+ anyways
I personally like where disc is. My only complaint is mana usage and thats only an issue in 22+ keys in my experience.
Disc is fine up to level 20 keys, it can crush every dungeon easily. 20+ it gets more difficuly but even 20-25s are doable, its just not easy.
The issue is so many people are terrible at disc that they give the spec a bad rap.
You’re wrong. Disc was a utility spec used to supplement holy or shadow. Kinda like Arcane was for mages. Edit- You’re wrong meaning “yes you are recalling incorrectly” not meant rudely
removing shadowmend/shadow school from disc feels really odd to me. i always liked the idea of using shadows and suffering a bit in exchange for its power, in the same way that i love light of the martyr for holy paladin, so pure holy healing disc seems really… unattractive to me
i feel the excuse of “we cant give silence to disc because it has too much control already” is BS considering how much shaman and mistweaver are getting. leave hpriest in the gutter for sure, they already have a stun, but im not a fan of the announced disc changes
It’s in the class tree though? It’s also better then flash heal numerically rn.
