Agree 100%. Cata disc was so much freaking fun. I just can’t get into Atonement Bonanza.
Yeah, same. I don’t mind complex. I just hate how this one is. Disc was still complex in Cata, but in different ways. And it was hella fun! It lost its fun to me.
It’s funny to me how many people want the old disc back. I’d say it’s a majority based on the feedback I’ve heard
It’s very rewarding for the sole fact that a well played disc actually negates the other heals. SS literally keeps other healers from healing. It’s very unique. And I think the dance of ramping while also doing mechanics is very fulfilling.
Atonement was one of the only unique ideas Blizzard had for unique specs.
Imagine being so insecure you try to witch hunt on a game forum. Lord.
That was back in the day of smart heals and Divine Aegis. If you timed it right, you could withstand two rogues and a paladin stun locking you in PvP and still be at almost full health by the time the rest of your group caught up to you in Tol Barad. lol
I dunno if it’s a majority, but it’s a sentiment I’ve heard before certainly.
Honestly, I don’t dislike the concept of Atonement/healing-via-damage entirely. I love chloromancer in Rift, for example. I just really don’t like that we sacrificed old disc to get this concept.
… what? All I did was let them know it was you. Rita said it earlier. They wanted to do their dumb “POST ON YOUR MAIN” junk, so I thought I’d let them know it was irrelevant, because you’re here.
There’s no witch hunt to be had.
Imagine being so insecure that you think someone trying to shut someone else’s nonsense down to help out is in any way a witch hunt.
Geebus the forums are hostile tonight…
That’s fair, and like I said - don’t dislike the concept in general. I just really preferred the Cata-era design for discipline. The concept of heal-via-damage should have gone to a different healer. Heck, mistweaver kind of already had it - they could have expanded upon fistweaving to build “atonement” into monk.
There’s this thing called dbm and also muscle memory. You know when to ramp and you press a rotation and then u dps outside of ur ramp window. It’s unique yes but not difficult at all. I would argue It’s the most overpowered and simple healer right now there’s nothing difficult about disc priest. Now post on ur main plz
But Cata Disc was DPS healing. Like full on DPS healing. The difference was that Atonement was our passive, not a short duration buff, we had heals to use outside of DPS healing, and Divine Aegis bubbles from crits.
All specs are chess boards with 3 pawns, sorry to… burst your bubble!
Eh, MoP Disc was more dps healing than Cata disc, tbh. It didn’t feel like the core of the spec - shields were.
This nonsense was shut down already, as they have posted on their main. This is also a weak argument.
When other healers do more damage than disc does, I just find the point of atonement meaningless. Good healers with good groups can weave in damage and heals just fine without having to do both at the same time and they are rewarded greatly for it.
It’s my own opinion that disc should be the highest damage output healer if it’s going to be an offensive based healer. And the fact that if doesn’t, means that it fails at its design.
Actually, it wasn’t. Because Mists is when they nerfed the amount of healing others got from our DPS. I out DPS’d people in raids as Disc and topped the healing charts in Cata.
The issue was that a lot of people were stuck in Wrath Disc mindset during Cata and didn’t realize its full DPS healing potential until too late.
Agreed and it’s unfortunately why I never play it. I don’t have the time to sink into learning when I need to cast every CD to mitigate every ability in PvE. So holy spam it is :///
Perhaps my memory is fuzzy. It was a long time ago. >_< I do remember considering atonement more in Mogu’shan Vaults than, say, Firelands.
Regardless, I definitely had a lot more fun on discipline back then than any time I’ve tried it in recent times.
Why did the group of disc priests sit in the dark when the power went out?
'cause none can lightwell.

Make disc a DPS spec. I think that’d be kind of cool.
