Disappointed @ the Patch Notes for 11.1 and Prot

Mid level devs. Trying to make changes for the sake of changes, to justify their employment.

If this is the ideas they come up with they shouldn’t be employed there.

Pretty sure every company has that checkbox on performance reviews for “Leading change,” or ,“Creativity.” It’s not a bad thing when people see issues that actually need to be changed. The problem is the “good idea fairy,” that makes change simply for change sake.
The change to Prot Warrior certainly seems to fall into the second category here.

There’s nothing wrong with creative solutions when it comes to reworks, there’s definitely been some positive changes made prior to this PTR patch.

But to flat out think that it’s a good idea to gut the whole resource generation aspect of a spec just because one hero talent is absurd in it’s resource generation is just short sighted and ignorant at best, and at worst they shouldn’t be let near anything class design wise since they have no clue about how far they’ve broken the flow of the gameplay that we’ll be stuck with for at least a patch due to them digging their heels in stubbornly and it being “too late” to fix one it hits live.

Has anyone tested out the latest PTR build? Looks some damage increase and they might have rolled back some of the rage nerfs?

I think tank shortage is real but healer shortage is even worse and blizzard fail to address the issue why people hate playing tanks and healers in pugs content.

It’s hit and miss. You don’t see tanks waiting around for queued content or premades because the vast majority are already doing the content. It does feel grim, though. Definitely find myself waiting for healers and tanks more than DPS, and when I do end up playing my tank, my groups fill instantly.

Having said that, this community proves time and time again how entitled it is. Almost to a choosy beggar level. People want the equivalent of an amusement park over a team-based adventure MMO experience. It feels less social, less welcoming, less fun. WoW is nothing like the game I remember back in MoP.

That’s entirely subjective, but that’s the feeling I get more often than not, and makes me wonder if the next big change to WoW in the not so distant future is the disappearance of traditional player roles over some sort of hybrid slop to expedite the process of stuffing content down people’s throats faster.

A lot has changed since then both in the world and in the attitudes of gamers, it used to be raid log and do gold times for CMs on the toons you wanted the mog for back then sprinkled in some wPvP nights where you would hold the timeless isles hostage in a teamspeak call with mates.
Now it’s an entirely different mindset of gaming in general which is Efficiency > Fun as the mantra that the modern gamer subscribes to these days to their own detriment.

Gameplay is so-so, you’ll still feel the lack of Shield Slam resets and the general lower rage income.

What a great name you have hahaha

Honestly the way it feels right now they just need to change the shield slam nerf back to what it is on retail. Taking a tank from a state of rage overflow to rage starved is a terrible design. In an age where there is a huge issue of lack of tanks nerfing one tank to the ground without taking into account the the fact that what you claim is broke when it isn’t just shows you don’t play the class and shouldn’t be making class changes.

and…they listened.

in the current PTR, SS reset proc rate is 20% (compared to 30% in live).
They’ve settled on 25% being the number that makes us NOT rage starved but not overflowing either.
I’ll do some more testing when PTR updates–but that seems to me to work as far as changes go.

Obvi, i’ll also see what Quazi thinks.

This whole “oh its too much APM” crap is for the birds. You honestly DONT have to play it with such high APM if you dont want to, but i’d argue that the sheer DMG going out to tanks in keys this season was why we got so upset about any changes to our rage regen.
Since htey are dialing back tankbusters in 11.1 and decreasing the sheer amount of deadly casts…time will tell if this change works.

My Prot Pally alt is still ready to go if my warrior still feels dumpstered after this.

The execute change for colossus will probably dumpster it in terms of fun for me.

We still have not be told a legitimate reason for the nerf the only thing we can think is it’s a punishment for bad warrior’s spamming execute and nothing else however this is going to have the exact opposite effect. It’s nor going to stop the bad players from spamming execute and it’s only going to slow Colossus down majority.
