Or they could just do nothing and allow people to have fun playing the game, rather than trying to force people out of the game who find ways to have fun.
I agree with Blizzards decision completely. The twink community does not represent the majority of players entering Battlegrounds nor a noticeable portion of the WoW player base. Low level twinking is so popular due to the ease of leveling and gearing to those levels, not to mention the only classes really used are the ones that are over powered for those brackets. There’s a reason there’s not a diverse class representation in the twinks community in any bracket. Twinks claim its for balance and fun for the community, but what it really is, a means to get away with online bullying.
The queue times for exp off players were so bad, Blizzard had to combine them with the general population. Once that happened the twink community GREW and not for twink vs twink competition but to have an edge over levelers and new players. If twink battles are such a desired part of the game why not plea for your own means to queue together? Oh yea it was given to you and it proved irrelevant. The twink community isn’t as grand as claimed to be. Just a bunch of bullies looking to get their thrills from frustrating other players.
If the problem is end game PvP then do a better job at explaining to Blizzard what the problem is. It has been brought up in a few Q&A’s and the response has always been “We need more than crying”. Get the data, screen shots, videos or numbers and prove to them that they messed up some where and it needs to be addressed with a good place to start looking.
TL;DR
Thank you Blizzard for the 110-119 xp changes soon to come to the bg community. You may not get enough casual players posting here but I for one am very happy with this decision. Thank you and Happy Holidays!
You came into a conversation where someone had an issue because they wanted to play through legion content as ‘intended’ so they turned off xp at 110 because they didn’t want to one shot mobs. They won’t be getting azerite gear until they move into BfA content because their intent isn’t to ‘create’ a twink.
Ugh. Gross. All of my XPoff characters are doing late Legion content right now. I just wanted to do the story without one-shotting everything.
More-so in this sense:
A 110 twink will be, effectively, 2 years deep into progression. The power difference between a 110 twink and 110 mob are extreme. This is ~4 tiers of power.
The power difference between a 390+ lvl120 and a 120 mob are pretty extreme too. However, that’s really just 1 tier of power.
There’s also the major power spike from legendary items. Once you reach 116, you lose a major portion of your power (7-15% for each it). This is when the gameplay winds down. And this is where you feel it the worst.
Leveling is still easy, is just not a faceroll like most people were used to.
You started and lead a group of 120’s to carry you because you would never be accepted into anyone elses group. I bet half of them leave when they see you are 110 and rightfully so.
Don’t change xp off for some levels. Keep it consistent, let us turn xp off at any level. If 110s are too powerful in content for 110-120 then change scaling for 111+ to be closer to 110 in power and then increase the enemy NPCs strength too, so that 110 isn’t the best level to fight them at.
And you responded that Legion content doesn’t get easier when a 110 character levels up. It does.
I’m curious what there is to discuss. My 101 twink in Legion could clear regular dungeons faster than my 110 who was raid geared at the time. People were carrying people through legion dungeons all the time to get them to level up. Nothing was done. 101s in Legion were WAY more powerful than 110/111s are in Bfa. Seriously some 101s could pull a whole dungeon and clear it in like 2-3mins. We can’t do that in Bfa.
The fact is, if 120 actually felt rewarding, I wouldn’t need to be on my 110. I have 2 paladins. My 120 has 100% run speed…there aren’t really any items to boost that, so running old content is SLOW and SLOW = boring. My 110 pally is almost at 150% run speed. Running old content is fast and fun. I’m looking at like 2 months now of running MC for my last piece of tmog, but I am finding it FUN to do because I can do it quickly and move on to other farming.
Damage in IEs at 120 is just slow compared to 110s. Again, raid geared pally in reg IEs cannot come close to doing what my 110 can. That is a problem.
Why this is an issue is why your players are shaking their heads and thinking more and more the devs have no clue what the players want. We want to have FUN. We don’t want chores upon chores to do when we login. We want to feel powerful. I get you know that at the end of Bfa when gear is like 450+ people will be powerful, but that doesn’t do anything to help with the 12-16 months we have to wait until we get there.
Legion was okay in how you dealt with character power. Original areas are a cakewalk for a 110 who is currently over 210. Broken Shore, maybe you need to be 220 or so to be a cakewalk, and then Argus area maybe 230-240 to be a cake walk. You felt powerful in the original zones within a short time (6-8 months) but you didn’t feel as weak as we do in Bfa. Maybe scaling and the squish screw things up, but bfa isn’t fun at 120.
The devs need to think why are people doing 110? Why is it so popular? Then think “How can we put that type of fun into 120?”
Could the dev team maybe consider making QOL improvements before taking them away for “intended design”?
First the key deletion rollback which was mentioned in the q&a as an actual QOL improvement. The problem you had was not actually tuning to fix the dungeons’ difficulty disparity. You took away the community’s ABILITY to fix your mess.
Like seriously it’s as though you want to make life harder for your regular players and push them further and further away.
Players that have no time to keep up with endless grinding will eventually just stop playing the game.
The fact that they even announced it means they aren’t able to address the underlying problem. They keep treating only the symptoms.
This is a terrible decision. I wanted to make a 111 twink to run old content with the slight speed boosts provided by Legion Legendaries, to farm old content for transmog. Guess I won’t be doing that now? Twinking is such a large part of this community and you’re effectively ruining it.
Why not let the players play the way we want to, rather than making sweeping, game-altering decisions because a few people are playing the game in a way you deem inappropriate. Who cares if people want to power level through Islands? They pay the sub, they should be able to play the type of content they want to. If they want to reach 120 fast so they can enjoy raiding and mythic plus, why try stop them? It’s not hurting anybody.
If you really need to put a stop to this behaviour then why not fix the XP given by Islands, so it is not as rewarding to level?
This is not cool, man. Not cool at all.
What a horrible decision.
A few people in a discord I spend some time in said they were doing this and could get from 110-120 in about 3 hours if they started out rested.
This whole incident is exactly what we want, though. Blizz announces something ahead of time to get feedback, then acts on that feedback. This is literally what we’ve been asking for.
BfA, the expansion of poor management.
Have you thought about the fact BfA is so bad some players decided to keep some of their alts under level 116?
The game feels pretty damn terrible and hollow without legendaries because azerite trials barely cover 1/3 of every you have taken away from us (tier sets, legendary items, different talent choices, decent haste levels ).
I capped some of my alts not to faceroll people in pvp or power level random people, but to have fun, something this whole expansion is lacking and you, devs, keep trying to make it impossible to attain.
Considering the amount of people leaving because of the disastrous state the game is, blizzard should not be doing this kind of impactful negative changes.
Here comes the pain Blizz
Blizzard please focus on making the game fun to play at 116+ instead of forcing something like this. Address the root of the problem.
At least it was announced (and then redacted to re-think possible solutions.)
The core issues aren’t easy to fix, I’ll give them that. But they need to figure it out.
I do a few things. Islands with a char that has 148% speed, so I can run around faster and kill things faster. I farm tmog and again, running faster, makes it go faster which means with my say 20hrs a week of play time I can milk more out of it than I can with a slower run speed. I also do bgs, and 110s you don’t die in 1 stun lock (usually) so you can do things to help farm achievements.
And you just responded I don’t know how a twink works - you get azerite gear and run mythic raids for gear – both of which that poster isn’t going to do.
Now I hope we are finished here.
