Dinars: The Truth

The simple truth is y’all set your expectations way to high. You wanted S4 version of dinars, that didn’t have any competitive level of tier after it (like DF S4).

But this is a middle season, with a competitive season coming after. Why do you think they’d give LFR folks a full set of Mythic gear going into the next season? Let me elaborate

S1: Mythic ilvl 639 (fully upgraded)
S2: LFR ilvl 639 (fully upgraded)

If you were to follow the same bump in ilvl going into the next season, what incentive does that LFR player have for doing their content now? They’re already at their max ilvl they were going to get for the season. There’d be no reason to play because there’d be no power up for them. Initial drops would be a downgrade, and lucky to get a side grade. Normal raiders spend half the time progressing before they reach their max as well.

And this creates a snowball effect. LFR becomes useless. Normal is now the new LFR, and Heroic becomes the new normal with AoTC guilds getting the bosses down in half the time of their normal seasons. Mythic players end up in the same boat regardless because they’re always maxed ilvl.

The dinar system you want doesn’t work in a middle season. It only works at the end of an expansion where ilvl is trivialized in the face of gaining levels.

Common sense isn’t so common, but at least try to put a little thought into it all.

Blizzard set those expectations with the last two iterations of dinars and by associating these chips with those systems.

The audience isn’t guilty of misunderstanding a poor communicator. The speaker is guilty for communicating poorly.

Sometimes I wish Blizzard had saved Dinars for next season. Everyone’s up in arms because of their expectations from SL/DF during S4 “fun seasons”.

No one says they won’t do it again…or maybe host a shortened S4 again…could happen

Getting the other ~12 gear slots?? Aren’t we limited to three total items?

“Way too high” as in “Literally what Blizzard established”.

Proving your case.

They didn’t. Everyone who saw “dinars coming mid xpac” knew better.
You’re still getting free gear you can choose, like dinars allowed prior. Just not in the same manner, because they’re not being done in the same manner

Like I said, common sense.

McDonalds aren’t all universal. McDonalds in my town is not the same as McDonalds in Rome. Are you saying it’s Rome’s fault for me to expect it to be the same?

With the current system i think you’re given two. I was talking about people wanting SL/DF version of dinars back though.

Blizzard established S4 dinars. This is S2 dinars. Not the same

I walked to the grocery store for the last five years along the same sidewalk.

Today that sidewalk has turned into a sinkhole and I couldn’t. I was nonplussed.

Curse me for setting these high expectations!

if they announce m+ next season do you expect them to give you pluderstorm instead? they said we are getting dinars then completely changed how they work

Either way, that in no way makes LFR (or normal, or heroic) useless to farm. It’s a small jump-start to a new season at best.

And they completely nerfed m+ too
I was hoping for S1 challenges

I think you’re misunderstanding the frustration: at this point, them saying: “Forget it, we’re taking Dinars out of the game. Period.”… would be met as a compromise. I would be happier with this.

This system is only for a fringe minority of Mythic Raid booster sellers and folks willing to spend $300 in WoW Tokens to buy one… and they aren’t even paperbagging it.

So no, people’s expectations weren’t too high: they just expected a system that wouldn’t catapult WoW into a literal Pay-To-Win model.

S2 Max Veteran (LFR) is 645.

The Dinar drama is not about iLvl as you’re pointing it out, its about getting something for all player base in their respective form of gearing and the current announced dinar is aimed heavily towards raiders only. (With their respective Myth boss kill if you want something out of X boss)

So your entire thread is meaningless.

You can’t go a few key levels higher and get the same challenge back?

Literally won’t, Expac are now 18month, that’s 3 seasons.

You missed the memo…

Are you serious? That the ONLY thing it’s about.

It’s about Blizzard coddling the egos of mythic raiders like the delicate babies they are, for the umpteenth time, while going back on what they’ve said.

No not either way. If they gave you past versions, you’d have no reason to do your LFR (go read it again, it’s fully explained)

They were. They were expecting dinars to work like they do in meme seasons. This isn’t that. There’s no need/use for ilvl going into a new expansion, which is why they were allowed in S4s.

This is S2 with another season and no new expansion coming in the next 10 weeks.

Good catch

Because raiders are the only ones who cannot spam their content for the rewards they want. They’re the only ones who cannot target specific pieces and run it until they get it. It 100% makes sense. What piece does a delver specifically need from delves (they all share the same loot pool so it doesn’t matter which one you run).

Can’t run Mythic raids for the mythic raid loot you want?

What did they go back on?

They mentioned this but it wasn’t concrete yet.
But with how things are shaping up this is what i fully expect. 3 full length seasons per xpac now. No meme season

OK…so maybe late S3…who’s to say they won’t hand out more freebies…

What incentive do heroic raiders and M+ players have for playing the rest of the season if they’re capped out in terms of upgrades and LFR players get the same thing they’ve already earned while they get nothing?

If they were going to implement dinars in a way that disproportionately benefits everyone except what is probably the average player, they shouldn’t have done it at all. No one forced them to announce dinars, no one forced them not to clarify that they wouldn’t work like they previously did, and no one forced them to implement them in a way that leaves a significant amount of players out in the cold.
