It’s super witty and intelligent statements like this that reassure me blizzard will always have someone to excuse every mistake they make.
oh please, i believe you’re smart enough to know how the notion of fel destroying the soul in it’s entirety connects to varians death. you’re just arguing in bad faith at this point.
also, we did have the cinematic where anduin stands over his destroyed ‘remains’ but instead of ‘screw you’ he said ‘im manduin now’
lol me making fun of Blizzards writing = me excusing every mistake they make? sure thing pal
So now we devolve because you still can’t see the point I’ve reiterated time and time again that you have yet to address.
I don’t give two craps about the lore behind fel. That was never the point of what I’ve been saying.
But seeing as how you’ll ignore my actual point, I’m not talking to the proverbial wall anymore.
No, you excusing every mistake they make is you excusing every mistake they make. A potshot at their story department is literally meaningless while you are in here licking danuser’s toes over this cut scene. The fact that you apparently think its unreasonable for fans of arthas to be upset over his character literally being deleted, tells me everything I need to know about your story telling ability. The writing staff is literally made up of people just like you.
i don’t like danuser and the cutscene was average at best but acting like Arthas’s soul being deleted here is some sort of great travesty while the character’s story was concluded 10 years ago is unreasonable. I wish they didn’t include him at all but his fanboys would prob just throw a fit over that instead.
It isn’t unreasonable. People are attached to characters, and this completely kills any connection or emotion they had left for the character. This should be obvious. People hate it when their favorite character dies, and this is worse by several magnitudes. Even more magnitudes since the scene was so poorly written, it is just inexcusably bad. “I wrote it because I felt like I had to write SOMETHING,” isn’t an excuse for bad writing. If you aren’t going to do it right, then don’t do it at all. Danuser needs to be removed from staff.
Honestly the only bad part about the cinematic was sylvanas. The rest was even a little touching. But to give her the last word was a slap in the face since she’s worse than he ever was yet we’re supposed to forgive her because womyn or some crap idk.
I really do think that monologue was meta aimed at the players who want a return to the glory days. It’s no coincidence that lich king is considered both the culmination of the game and the last time it was at it’s peak.
I think it legit was the devs taking a shot at that and saying wotlk will be forgotten
i can agree with that. watching your favorite character die twice sucks. sucks even more when the reintroduction and death weren’t necessary for the story at all. I suppose I just view it as non-consequential for the story nor arthas’s character since they literally had him do nothing and remains as uninvolved as he was before this cinematic. as a result, i don’t see this as some sort of stain on the character’s legacy at all
I don’t have a horse in this race, but just a thought: can’t this “double death,” so to speak, provide more tragedy and layers to the character’s larger story? I can understand people’s frustration, but I actually found the scene with his ethereal remains vanishing rather poignant.
It’s not just a stain, its blizzard as a whole telling the fans they never want anything to do with Arthas ever again.
with the current story writers, it’s probably for the best they don’t. There is no happy ending for arthas nor should there be. the character fulfilled his role and died with a bang, and now also a whimper i guess
Which is why it’s a stain, there didn’t need to be a whimper.
don’t think that warrants a stain but we’re probably just splitting hairs here. its about time we move on from arthas and his story and focus on new characters and stories rather than those of the past
Have fun with that. Enjoy Danuser’s Sylvanas show.
oh my expectations are low but I still enjoy the game as a whole enough to weather the Danuser era of storytelling. I’ll give him a chance to see what he does with characters he has introduced, maybe he just isn’t good at writing other people’s characters into the stories he wants to tell but im not getting my hopes up
All I can do now is just wait…wait for wotlk classic, back when the lore wasn’t written by some Sylvanas simp.
I wish we had MoP classic already. I wanna go back to that.
Things were cozy with showing instead of telling. Gathering materials was fun. Demonology was fun.
I just miss it something fierce
I interpreted it similarly as well. I’m thinking a lot of people are just outraged because they didn’t get what they wanted and they felt Sylvanas stole the spotlight for the scene.
LOL isnt that interesting.

Create the problem, offer a fix.
