It saved it to some degree, adding new content for speedrunners.
I want old, labyrinth style dungeons back. All of the dungeons from TBC and after are boring corridor farms.
Reading this thread, it’s like people forgot that there were other dungeon reward systems before M+, like running for badges in Wrath.
M+ ruined dungeons for me. I used to love doing them but I don’t want timers and stupid affixes. So now I do each maybe a couple times and then not again, since M+ replaced any other reason to do them. And I hate that.
Yeah I remember VP and JP in Mists. My favorite story is the one time I queued Tank as Retribution, and the healer was Windwalker and we got Temple of the Jade Serpent.
We actually raced. He did Temple of Water, I did Library and we met in the courtyard to finish off the last 2 bosses.
Oh, we locked out the 3 other guys because they stayed at the door wondering who to follow. They ended up not even participating.
Easy VP though, that would have been a +5 in Mythic+ with how fast we smashed it.
But yeah, let’s have nostalgia for those “old dungeon systems” that enabled this kind of complete disregard for other players.
M+ revitalized the dungeon ecosystem.
What they didn’t proceed on doing in further iterations is provide fun affixes that players can have fun with. Instead Blizz blizzified it as I say and made a lot of things annoying.
So what you’re saying is that it added new content to attract and appeal to speedrunners and sacrificed players that were not into that.
So how do we know this was a net benefit?
What was sacrificed ?
FTFY Being a jerk and then blaming the system that “enabled” you to do it. Take some responsibility, sheesh…
No, it’s not me or others (since most everyone was doing it), it was the system. Since the dungeons were hard stuck to 435 ilvl tuning and we were 530+ (and 570+ there at the end), it was the fastest way to cap valor (the first one daily gave valor) outside of boring Heroic Scenarios.
The system was set up so that you queued into it, and the faster the better, and just proceeded to DPS everything in 4-5 GCDs because ilvl 435 content was massively undertuned for ilvl 530+ players.
Nah. Don’t blame the player for Blizzard’s poor design. M+ entirely fixed that issue. Now your Heroic dungeon queue is completly free of Retribution tanks soloing the instance.
Why does the inclusion of M+ ruin the dungeon experience? They didn’t remove Normal, Heroic, or Mythic difficulties for the dungeons.
What’s to prevent someone from repeating your exact argument to say LFR ruined raiding?
And heroic dungeons are now completely useless. Instead, we have M+ where people quit if you have even a little bit of trouble, don’t invite you unless you outgear the key already, and pressure tanks so much that hardly anyone wants to put up with it anymore. Great system, yeah.
Saved it for me. I wouldn’t be playing other wise.
I’m sure I’m not alone. Mythic+ can be ignored if you don’t like it. I doubt mythic+ has caused ppl to leave the game.
Yea you are 100 percent correct.
My only success has been to start my own grps, and I have several friends that I run with from time to time.
Pug is pug its a flip of a coin.
It is funny how certain pug memebers talk smack on others skill. If your soo good then why the hell qre you pugging is what I say… I didn’t know pros pugged and talked down on others for lower skill.
Good, they were useless in Mists too, it was dumb to force people back in there for currency to upgrade Mythic SoO gear.
Nope, not even a thing. Better vet your people.
I tank M+ and there’s really not much pressure.
Blizzard stopped trying to make the lower difficulties relevant at max level because M+ exists. It is now the only game in town, as they say. Gearing outpaces normal/heroic/mythic dungeons so fast that they are barely run.
Because its a commonly ran piece of content, it has high participation just like raiding and rated PVP. Not everything added will appeal to everyone, it’s understandable that some will hate it but they don’t have to do it.
They never were. Forced currency grinds (that you mostly could get elsewhere too) don’t make the dungeons relevant. They just turn them into massive solo speed runs.
Was running +5 Darkheart last week, tank backed into an additional group and it got messy early on. Pug warlock bailed so we had to 4-man the rest of it. Why? Most likely the timer that he figured we wouldn’t hit.
No, the timer doesn’t matter.
More like “This is going to be painful and long because this tank obviously doesn’t know what he’s doing”. No different than anyone bailing in a queued dungeon the minute the group looks incompetent.
I’ve never seen anyone bail when it’s just the timer at issue and everyone is doing mechanics. There’s no penalty to staying in a competent group that’s just going to miss the timer by a minute or 3.
Better vet your members. If you had picked a better tank, you wouldn’t have had leavers.
I don’t really recall a time when lower difficulty dungeons were very relevant to the gearing process. I do remember being able to farm badges to buy epics, but that predates M+ by an extremely long time.
I could theoretically loot gear from a Mythic dungeon and upgrade it using Valor all the way to item level 246 by just running M+2 over and over. There will be a timer unfortunately, but you won’t have to deal with “silly affixes”.
