Did Blizzard Nerf Malfurion? Why? And where is the justification?

Night Elves ambushed at Night in their own lands. A forest that has been nothing but a death trap for trespassers for the last 10k years…

They aren’t really decimated… they suffered a lot of civilian deaths from War of Thorns, but their Military remained untouched. The Kaldorei Armies in War of Thorns were town militia, and a small token force that arrived way sooner than the rest of the fleet.

Just about every novel written by Richard Knaack.

TV Tropes refers to this as the “Worf Effect”.

You seem to forget that those female (not matriarchal) night elves pretty much being beat on the entire kitchen sink that Saurfang could dig up and have thrown at them. the Night Elves don’t just roll over and die and let the Horde have Ashenvale and Darkshore, they make the Horde pay for every leaf of grass. For one faction of the Alliance to solo defend itself as well as it did… given that much of their military might was lured south to Silithus, speaks much of the Night Elves.

Weakness is not part of that.

First of all, learn the lore of the race you play.

" Where the male Night Elf, female Night Elf are just standing right side by side, the Druid here, the female in front, female in front because that’s the Night Elf culture from Warcraft III, right? The Sentinels. The matriarchal society. And so she’s at that forefront, Malfurion, who we just saw how powerful Malfurion is in this whole film, but he is clearly in a position of being “second in command” here." -Terran Gregory

The NIGHT elves, were ambushed at NIGHT, in their own home. We saw Sentinel’s in-game acting like frightened school girls. “I don’t want to fight, but I will if I have too!”

It was pathetic and infuriating. I understand the lore says one thing, but what we saw in-game was totally different.

It would be worth noting that what happened in lore (the novellas) and what happened in game were so totally different that the in game portrayal of the War of Thorns is best left ignored.

So in this case, Drahliana is right; the Sentinels while they were ambushed did not roll over and die, and Ashenvale was a meat grinder until Sylvanas had Saurfang and Nathanos go around through Felwood and shatter the night elves wisp wall and their ranks.

In-game portrayal matters.

Did they nerf Sylvanas banshee wail?

I miss it canceling out magic : (

I share your frustration. I get that they used rouges to infiltrate but to be taken by surprise like that was annoying. But it wasn’t a totally success for the Horde, Astarnaar and the other ouposts recovered quickly.
