Diablo Immortal is WHAT mages should be

Well firstly it’s not elements, it’s the colors of the aspects. Secondly, they’re not using the black dragon aspects in any of the demos nor do either spec have black defined in their mixtures. Finally, the dps build is only using 2 colors, so that’s like Arcane + Fire, but not all three. I doubt evokers will be “an actual mage class the game sorely lacks” even with something like blink. I feel like it’s going to play like a ranged version of a vengenace demon hunter (minus the defensive/tank oriented things). So short range aoe stuff like spirit bomb, breath attacks like devastation ability, mini-flights like infernal strike, etc.

Which is to say, the elemental Black, Red and Blue dragonflights, with Green and Bronze focusing on other cosmological forces and Blue sitting in the middle. Either way, weird thing to pick on.

Missed opportunity for a tank spec if you ask me. But yes, the DPS spec does use at least one black dragonflight spell, if you pay attention when they take flight and shoot fire in a straight line, the fire is shattering the earth beneath them.

Red + Blue magic = Fire, Arcane and Frost, it’s literally shown in the trailer the Drachyr shooting a discount Ray of Frost from their mouths with both Frost and Arcane spell effects.

Nah, I don’t think so, Vengeance is almost entirely melee focused, can’t even compare Drachyr breath’s to them, considering Fel Devastation serves more as a big, defensive CD as opposed while from what they’ve shown their breath attacks seem to just be what they do. Their flights also seem to be way more focused on being part of the rotation as opposed to “Use one to deal damage, save one to run away” and short range AoE isn’t anything new to melee classes cough Divine Storm cough.

I still stand by my opinion on the matter, Evoker, from everything we’ve seen so far will fulfill a much better role as an Evocation specialist than mage currently does because they were pretty much designed for it while mages still suffer from the massive class fantasy crush that was turning specs into their own classes.

Jaina a Frost Mage has no trouble using raw arcane to levitate a ship and conjure arcane cannons, Khadgar a mage that specializes in pure arcane has no trouble freezing everything around him when needed, but lo and behold, the Archmage wielder of Aluneth can barely use the simplest spells from other schools. Some kind of Archmage we are…

Well, hopefully Dragonflight talents will fix the situation of archmage that can barely use spells of not his specialization.
For example, I would love to see Arcane Missiles in the general tree for all 3 specs. This would provide Fire and Frost with a decently powerful tool to use while kicked on major school with the mana cost trade-off.

I want all specs to have great visual effects, especially Arcane that have spells looking like tiny party trick sparkles. The spell effects barely resemble a Mage as they are.
