People can cry all they want but DH was never even remotely OP in BFA as current Ret pally is.
I can handle WW monk, Arms, and rogues. Their damage is nutty. But Ret pally is on a whole other level. The amount of damage they put out right now with no set up is crazy.
I think I played like like 15 or so games last night in 3s at 2.1 mmr and just 1 game was rmp. Every other game had a ret in it. Actually disgusting.
We need some help. If nothing else revert most of the nerfs we received. Dodge chance on blade dance, give back leech, demonic 8 sec again, give back the % on blur, lower the cd on nether wall.
I love DH and will continue to main but it is so frustrating playing when every other melee in the game is so superior. If Im going to be as soft as toilet paper than atleast give WW type burst.
I feel you guys on the whole “Defensives being bad” thing.
But it’s my core belief that classes with high mobility should have to use the mobility to survive, and classes with low mobility should be tanky by nature.
This is why Condemn warriors are toxic to the game, since Condemn gives them high mobility, while being the tankiest class in the game.
So I don’t actually want DHs to be a class that is inherently tanky due to Leech and Blade Dance dodge.
If anything, give us outplay potential with Blur. Reduce the duration of Blur to 6 seconds, and increase the damage reduction to 40%. Make Pre-Blur valueable, while forcing us to use our mobility to survive.
I would agree if other classes were built like us. In theory, having risks associated with sticking to a target by losing your mobility to escape is a good thing for pvp. However, we’re the only melee it feels like that has to deal with that to the extent we do, and others like WW with a similar kit can still just keep constant pressure up unlike us.
I feel like the design we have currently wasn’t intentional, which is part of the problem. What are DHs design in pvp? We’re like rogue if kidney shot was a 90 second CD.
Like what Vaers said, almost no class is designed that way. If the goal were to nerf nearly every class down to the DH’s level, that is certainly an option. It’s made worse now that players are expected to reduce their mobility in order to do any appreciable burst damage. And what’s especially disappointing is the burst damage done isn’t even top tier. Especially with the cooldowns involved and reliance on a specific covenant for half of it.
I certainly agree with your main point about damage being a major issue. But I honestly find just as much wrong with the defensives and lack of group utility the class provides as well. They really have a lot of work ahead of them to bring this class up to an acceptable level. Not just getting the class’s damage up to where it needs to be.
If mobility is supposed to be our niche for survivability then lots of classes need to lose their equally capable mobility to compensate, or alternatively they need to be as squishy as DH.
I’m all for that kind of diversity between classes, but the standard needs to be applied evenly.
I think everyone involved (both DH and our enemies) want to get away from The Hunt being our big go.
It’s a dice roll, we either one shot you or we lose, and it’s not a great feeling for either party involved.
I really like The Hunt mechanically, and really hope we have it as an option moving forward, but would prefer our sustained damage goes up, and the ridiculous burst damage of S1 goes down for all involved. High sustained is good, one shots are not.
Our mobility goes out the window with the amount of slows, stuns, grips and such things. I find it so hard to kite and a lot of other classes seem to have about an equal amount of mobility. I also wish using spectral sight didn’t slow us so much.
I don’t agree with some here that fell rush shouldn’t do any damage. I love that fell rush can Crit for high numbers with the right build.
However it does feel like Havoc, in PvP has no sustain. They need to add some type of healing to its kit. I’m not a fan of leech personally, as I think it’s better for heals to be based on a few skills. (maybe vengeful retreat heals for 30% of your hp over 10 seconds?)
I don’t think anyone here dislikes the buff we got. It feels messy though. They’ve made us need to kite to survive, which is fine, but then they have damage tied to that mobility with unbound chaos and momentum, etc.
In isolation, that’s really good. You trade something to another. Mobility for damage, survival for damage, etc. Problem is we’re just the only ones playing that game it seems.
Rets like screw it, ima go immune and hit you for 12k final verdicts lol. Warriors sit in D stance and constantly charge you with condemn, etc.
I dislike it because if this trend continues and blizzard makes momentum competitively viable, then we won’t get buffs anywhere else.
They nerfed demonic duration, removed baseline meta leech and now they are buffing talents that interact with felrush. Im worried Blizzard doesn’t want demonic to be competitive despite its popularity.
