The art team did a great job of creating a generic fantasy landscape to go with the generic fantasy story arc and quests. This xpac can’t even touch BFA imo.
However bad the music is, the systems are worse.
The problem is: The music you hear and know. The art you see and know. (I know, music is a form of art, but I am just following the OP vernacular).
Systems you only know how bad they are if you know systems yourself, or if you get to the point when its systemic problems manifest themselves.
Well, that is the problem. IT is all bad, but the systems take longer to see how bad they are for most players.
Something I have said before: Talent tree were not changed in terms of system, they are ARTISTICALLY (or cosmetically, or visually, whatever) presented as they were before, but they are the exact same system it was last xpacs. That is what I am talking about. Only if you know systems or when it manifests itself you know these things.
Noted…. I am sorry for mentioning that abomination of a city.
I would NOT say DF nailed the systems. It got the general idea right, but it fizzled out FAST. Think, how many of us do professions/get excited when you get a new knowledge point? How many of us bother with the world boss, with the “primalist” storms? When is the last time you did, or took any interest in the hunt, siege?
They made systems that have less longevity than MoP dailies. If there was a tracker, keeping count of how many people week by week are completing that stuff, it’d be exponentially dropping.
Yeah, systems are achieving what they are made to, but that is not what peeps here seem to think.
You’re gonna critique the art team in that mog eh? Interesting.
Said it for years…
Blizz needs to hold another Art and Music contest.
Give credit to any artist for their work, but then you will have a well of art/music to draw from and use in game.
I get why so many things are simply reworked or retextured to save space, but I’m all for lots of new art styles.
You mean, the one designed as a set by the art team?
Erm…
I thought this was a joke post at first because to me the exact opposite is true.
The art and music teams did a great job but the systems and all their timegatey, drip fed, RNG-asaurus attacks are poo.
I will say though that I’ve noticed in the last few expansions the maps feel a bit messier… not just because of WQ and event spam, but the actual landscape… its like the buildings have too many towers and they are neither symmetrical or assymetrical… too many sky islands and not arranged in a way that is pleasant to the eye, just placed randomly it almost seems…
SL was a good idea, just unbelievably bad implementation… likely cause of the lawsuits and other stuff they were secretly scrambling with during SL production and development which meant like WoD half of it had to be cut.
The problem is most of the stuff cut was integral story and setting stuff which would’ve connected a few gaps.
If they really just wanted to try and salvage Shadowlands they could just pull what the MCU did with Loki and just make Zovaal a lying front man for Denathrius and his schemes with backup plans on top of backup plans, using a fall guy is definitely something Denathrius would do, and it further sets up and establishes the Sire as a strategic villain.
The art and music are fine.
Original Dalaran music just soothes my soul. It’s hard to describe how it hits. There’s nothing in any expansion since that has been that effective.
Denny returning is my biggest wish. An alliance between major villains like Denny, Azshara, and Xalatath would be
.
I do not. I haven’t felt this immersed by the music and art since WotLK/Cata.
Nope.
Honestly, gameplay should come first. Art/music Third.
