So don’t quote me on this, same goes for everyone else.
But apparently, the dev who works on both priest and Druid talent tree for DF seems to have QUIT recently. That’s why we haven’t gotten any updates on these classes.
If so, that’s bad. Seems like history is repeating for priests again (like during Shadowlands.)
Just wanted to share this with you as you make your final decision.
Personally for me, since priest seems to be Out of the picture, I am eyeing Warlock and Envoker as my top choices. I think they might end up being fun.
Rogues look like they are getting constant changes.
Monks look pretty broken so far.
Sounds like a copium fueled conspiracy from the depths of reddit.
There’s no one guy for a whole class. Certainly not for two classes. That would be insanity.
The truth is that it’s probably a lot easier to change a pure DPS class (Hunter) over Hybrid classes.
No he didn’t … but given how generic the blue post was for Mages this week and the “not yet determined” new talents they spoke about in it, it would seem to make one believe mages don’t have a dev right now.
the individual who was credited as the dev for those 2 specs and some other things did leave about 3 weeks ago, thats a real thing. whether or not they were 100% responsible for those specs this time around or not is uncertain, but a very senior dev did leave 3 weeks ago and they have previously been tied to druid and priest.
I mean it’s pretty common sense that the dev who was tied to those 2 classes leaving also coincides with the ONLY 2 classes receiving 0 updates. Also thinking that it is impossible that only 1 dev was in charge of talent trees isnt hard to believe when Blizzard openly said only about 2 people were on the pvp team which is why pvp balancing was far and few between the last couple of expansions.
On paper, the numbers are shifting more towards the dots than they are currently, but the fundamental playstyle is still almost the exact same. THAT is the problem.
It’s just cause the spell doesn’t fit the profile. Painting a zebra’s stripes green instead of black doesn’t stop it from being a zebra, and a lot of people here feel the same way with MR.
Even if it’s changed with it’s use to be more sustained damage oriented, it’s still not a DoT, still does direct damage.
It brings people out of the fantasy of their character, brings them out of the theme, and blizzard keeps trying to make the spec centered around it. To a lot of people, if you mess up the theme/fantasy of the spec it’s done. The only saving grace, then, is making it do absurd amounts of damage or else the spec is “unplayable” and it’s not actually unplayable in terms of output, just that it completely desyncs the playstyle and makes the players playing to be the character completely devoid.
I said it before, right? A lot of this is psychology. If your spec feels good to play, people love and will enjoy playing it. If it feels bad, the only saving grace for it, to players, is doing high output otherwise it’s a dead/very low played spec/unplayable. Because fantasy and theme matter very, very much in games where you build and play your character, aka Fantasy MMORPGs like this.
There’s so few people who actually play “for the numbers” kinda thing. They play for themes and enjoy their characters/classes/specs based off of themes. If the theme fails, the spec’s failed to a lot of casuals. MR fails the theme of DoTs and it breaks the fantasy.
they are doing everything they can to make MR not the DIRECT DAMAGE NUKE focus of the build that was maligned by people such as yourself. thats very apparent. but i feel this is moving the goalposts. “MR Isnt DOT DAMAGE” well now its got potential to be a large amount of dot AMP, almost like another debuff to maintain … “well the button sucks to press its not thematic” youre causing your dots to now flare and empower.
I just want to know if Malefic Affliction falls off if you refresh UA before its duration ends, how the 6 second Dread Touch debuff feels to maintain, and if they have plans to fix the terrible MR spell animation. Also if it does fall off, is that only when you recast UA on the same target or is there going to be a problem with Deliberate Malice.
For the record, I went Venthyr until I maxed renown because I hate myself I guess.
IMO, what they’ve done potentially satisfies me thematically. The rest comes down to tuning.
Yeah that one was proven false, you still did have people venturing off the beaten path, though, just an extremely few.
Yeah, but still the biggest part of it is still that it exists, and still hasn’t been change to becoming DoT damage, itself.
DoT amp while still doing direct damage, and still being a focus / spender.
But, yeah we will see. It’s some really nice and awesome changes to make the spec feel more aligned with it’s profile.
I still think they should throw Rapid Contagion in as a choice capstone thing in the beginning with MR there, and if you choose RC it completely replaces MR, instead, like literally replaces the spell. Idk, just throwing out ideas. I might be fine with the way it ends up being once we get to see the next build, to which I’m assuming the build will be out tomorrow (Thursday).
Honestly I thought most alpha builds came out on Thursdays more often than anything else and sometimes we did get them on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, just majority were on Thursdays, instead.
