I’ll try to speak hunter for you. YoU aRE mad because melee have 0 gap closers and leeway is a way for melee back in the day to be given a fair chance against ranged. Are you #no changes? Because if melee is allowed combat charge then I can see that being fair with taking away leeway. I’m not sure I can make it any easier for you man. As it stands now, any gud hunter can kite melee and destroy them without being touched .

This video does not compare the reference vanilla client behavior with the classic client behavior. It is not an appropriate test.
For better or worse, the goal of the classic team is to bring an experience that is as close as possible to vanilla.

That’s normal. Hunters got absolutely dumped on in pvp in vanilla. Anyone who thinks they didn’t is wearing rose tinted goggles. When I was doing my honor grind, Hunters were just free honor.
Hunters were only good when firing through hills and ganking in world pvp.
Your server must have had some horrible hunters. I had no issues in BGs or open world. Was I godly? No, but I never felt under powered. I had access to current tier raid gear though, so that probably didn’t hurt.
I’m 40 years old as of tomorrow, old enough to remember playing back then quite well (mid 20’s). No, nobody ever was able to melee me from the other side of the dead zone lol…

All I see is someone demonstrating what melee leeway does and how it works. It’s still a vanilla mechanic. Just like spell batching, it is still intentional and by design according to Blizzard’s plans they’ve communicated for Classic WoW. Classic mechanic is classic. It should, and will, stay.
This isn’t an argument of “should” or “logical” or “balance”. It’s simply “did it work this way in vanilla?” and the answer is yes. Therefore, it’s in Classic WoW.

Exaggerating doesn’t help you, we just watched a video that showed melees from like 12 yds, which is extreme enough anyway.

Anecdotally, having played a warrior through all of Vanilla, yes I did hit people from really far away. But my anecdotes mean nothing – just as your anecdotes mean nothing. Provide proof to the contrary, otherwise it is reasonable to assume that Blizzard has confirmed the values are in fact classic (which is super trivial for them to confirm from a code logic standpoint). It’s been long enough that, if this was wrong, they would’ve adjusted it if it wasn’t correct.

First, Venthos made a perfectly valid point. Just because you don’t agree doesn’t mean you should be a jerk about it.
Second, since you are admitting that leeway was in fact in vanilla, then it reinforces Venthos point that it therefore should be in Classic.

I despise leeway, but that isn’t video proof. What you need to do is prove that it is making classic behave differently than vanilla, and thats impossible to do. I think our best and only hope to get it removed is with just plain logic and reason (though I don’t think they ever will change it).
There is no way this existed in vanilla. I mean, just looking at old pvp videos you can tell melees did not have that kind of range
I have no video proof either… but I can remember about a million times trying to kite a warrior and screaming “how the (expletive deleted) can he still be hitting me???”.
