Developers are still not getting what made WoW so good in the first place

Nothing can ever be the 1st time like the 1st time.

That is all.

The reason why wow became popular was because it was better than other games at the time. It was the easy MMO, the game you could play even if no one you knew was online. It got rid of hated mechanics like losing progress when you die.

I agree, game used to have fun bosses and dungeons you could tackle with your friends.

Now you need everyone in group to be try hard to max and equipped with weak auras.

Game used to have fun Over powered accessible specs that allowed less talented and sometimes people with disabilities able to play the game even at high level ( havoc in bfa and BL hunter ). Now every spec requires way too much and requires weak auras to play optimally .

Game is becoming way too complex and it’s killing the game.

I completely agree with OP

This is coming from a r1 title m+ every season and countless CEs and multiple glads player.

I think the most i have on any character is a rogue…and even that is AT MAX like…12 buttons? I have no idea what this dude is even going on about.

You know if the rotation is too complicated the game also offers are a more passove skill tree path for you.

You know normal and heroic mode exist right?

I remember people ranting about how WoW was going to fail because it was too ez mode, all the real gamers were going to go back to real MMOs, like EQ or UO.

Maybe they did. Not enough people left to kill it at any rate – way back in 2004 and 5.

Oh christ, this topic. Again. How new and exciting.

If you want a different, overly simplified, clicker game you should try a little game on the app store.

There is nothing complicated about specs if you know how to read and maybe practice for a day or two.

There’s other options.

WoW when it started pretty much had Final Fantasy 11 and Everquest as its competitors. Now there’s more than you could name if you tried.

4 raid tiers and mythic+ killed the game. not being able to complete your character is toxic. There’s always “one more push” . Playing an alt is the best bonus content.

1 raid with one set of loot please. just make mythic mechanic bosses with LFR damage .

WoD & SL: “Waaaah there’s no content. Game is so dumbed down. Bring back Talent Trees. Make it more like Classic!”

DF: “Waaaah it’s too complicated. Talent Trees are too many buttons to push! Make it simpler. Too many quests! Too much content! It’s too convoluted!!

Meanwhile, Classic is what you want and available, so why not go play it?

I’m having more fun now in DF than I’ve ever had in WoW, including Legion (which was exponentially better than Wrath.)

That it was a different era in video games. It was a different time on the internet. WoW was a younger game, only 5 years old.

WoW is never, ever going back to 2009 numbers. Even if it was exactly like Wrath in every metric, down to the most minute detail. It just would not be the same numbers wise. That time has come and gone for MMOs.

I don’t think it was because of the buttons. And no class has 20 button rotations.

Because you think you know doesn’t mean you know.

Interesting theory, now here’s the reality

WoW Classic isn’t that great with those mechanics. As someone who plays Classic exclusively these days, we know all the min/max loot, rotations, etc. It’s actually boring. If things didn’t change, then we’d be bored shi*less when playing the game.

Hello, I see you posted a thread about lots of stuff. Haha, this game doesn’t even really have true rotations! If you look at logs, the vast majority of classes hit anywhere between 3-5 buttons for like 60-70% of an encounter, haha! You are basically just spamming the same buttons over and over until a cooldown becomes available, haha!

Thanks for your post and have a great day!

I don’t think so.

The answer is simpler than you think it is. The game is 20 years old. It was new and fresh back in 2009. People were younger and had more free time. The genre was new to them.

You guys need to get it though your heads. The golden years are over and long gone. You are never going to have that feeling again when the game was brand new and exciting.

I wish I had a game that people would play for over 20 years.

I don’t know who has this but some macro’s and understanding of the class might help.
